Toaster movie review. Streaming on Netflix
The latest offering on Netflix running for 2 hours and 5 minutes. Ordained to be a comedy however, Toaster appears to be a medley of scripts strung together to complete the ultimately movie. It starts out promisingly about a young couple living on rent. The husband, Ramakant (Rajkumar Rao) who is an incurable miser whose reason of living amongst a society of elders is low rent and free buffet breakfast at landlady's house every morning and sucking upto the old hag to lower rent further. This miser is so persistent with the telecom company that he recovers a small charge of Rs 6 from them, and his wife Shilpa (Saniya Malhotra) sweet and homely with a black belt to boot. It all starts with Ramakant's act of extreme stinginess, when a wedding is cancelled, he takes extreme measures to retrieve the toaster he reluctantly gifted. Toaster moves forward from here and meanders within vario ....

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari movie review
The above titled movie is the latest offering from Dharma Productions, this is amply made known with Karan Johar himself putting in an uninspiring cameo as a marriage celebrity. Released on 2nd October 2025, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari  is now streaming on Netflix. Though it may suggest otherwise but the eponymous Sunny is not so 'sanskari' and Tulsi is not your average 'Main Tulsi tere angan ki' types. Like a rollercoaster it starts out as a fun flick then goes into conflict, then down to a tearjerker then again bouncing back for a happy ending. In current times love is just a 'situationship' until someone else comes along who attracts you so much that you will dump your love to marry a stranger, then explain it away as parental pressure. Then enter the ex-es wishing to break the newly formed alliance and reclaim what is theirs, they even have the gall to ask 'I hope you are n ....

Pagglait (2021) movie review
How does a young girl, who is on the threshold of being a woman feel when her young husband passes away? How do you react, what do you do, what do you speak?... Then you become stoic when the whole world is watching you and wonder why you are not crying, have you gone crazy? Like the song playing in the background throughout the movie. Pagglait movie review... Welcome to this Pagglait who asks for Pepsi and chips when asked for tea. The movie is a roller coaster ride of feelings and perceptions post a young death in a family. How things playout around a young widow set in a town somewhere in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a film about old values in a middle class family and how things change with circumstances. Sandhya (Sania Malhotra) the protagonist is the young widow barely a few months into her marriage, when she looses her husband Astik, though the young man is thankfully n ....

Ludo (2020) movie review
Netflix's latest offering as their original feature film,  Ludo the eponymous board game which everyone as a child would have played. Lately it seems to have caught on the fancy of young and old alike in it's online Avatar. It sounds like an unlikely name for a movie and does aroused curiosity. Ludo, the movie juxtaposes this game as and with the game of life. One gets excited and is expectant to see something different or new, as for the last few offerings on the various OTT platforms are anything but entertaining or even vaguely logical. It seems that the makers set out to make something good with the kind of themes and story ideas at their disposal but somewhere in the intervening period they lose their way and the story meanders and hurtles towards its climax. Same is the case with Ludo, it starts out with high expectations as a bearded Anurag Basu (the director of the movie) and ....

Shakuntala Devi movie review
In my childhood and one generation before me and the one after who is worth their salt must definitely have heard of the Human computer, the number wizard, the mathematical genius SHAKUNTALA DEVI who goes by so many sobriquets. She was one of the most famous daughter of India who got name and fame not only to herself but also did the country proud. I remember when she came to our school in the late seventies, we all marvelled at her instant genius, our numbers kept increasing and her answers were as effortless as kids play, you gave her numbers which she instantly crunched and spooled out the answers roaming on the stage from one end to another with Mike in hand in her typical sareed attire and with a twinkle in her eye. Thankfully the makers of the film on Shakuntala Devi have stuck to the job and and to the biopic in the right earnest not taking too many cinematic liberties, mayb ....
