Raudra - Marathi film review
What instantly hits you in Raudra (Marathi film) is the depiction of simplicity of lives of the village folks and the rustic atmosphere of the serene village in Maharashtra. The film Raudra that is set in the 1970s sensitively portrays the various emotions of humans that is craftly woven around the search of of a hidden treasure by the protagonist, a census officer Trimbak (Rahul Patil) who supposedly is in search for the hidden Devi temple in the village of Wadgaon. The census officer is on his official duty of collecting information of the inhabitants of this sleepy village gets the honorary services of Bando (Amit Padvankar) a villager who directs the census officer to the village Sarpanch Nanasaheb Kulkarni (Deepak Damle). Roohi (2021) movie review
Every once in a while there comes along a movie which is projected to be a much awaited movie but it turns out to be a damp squib. This movie Roohi that is now streaming on Netflix was theatrically released on 11 March 2021. Due to the Pandemic situation, only those films releasing on OTT platforms are being reviewed. Roohi appears to be starting off from where we left off in Stree with Rajkumar Rao again donning a role of a village bumpkin who reports for a fraud type newspaper called something like Jazirabad Jaljala which does'nt even make a wave leave alone a jaljala which means tsunami. Rao is paired with a bumchum in the name of Atthanni or is it Katanni played by an irritating and over the top hamming Varun Sharma, such a waste of his so called acting talents. All through the movie as soon we feel now the story is building up it drops like a tonne of bricks with the two bumpk ....

Ram Gopal Verma's RAAT (1992)
A good horror movie is a rarity in our country that churns out the largest number of films every year (you will see very few in our list too). Almost none of them measure upto the quality which come out of Hollywood, barring a few, specially those made before the turn of the century. Raat - revisited... In the previous century horror movies were a forte of the Ramsay brothers, but none of their movies except for maybe a Darwaza or a Hotel were somewhat out there but most of the films only evoked laughter rather than any sense of terror, specially in current times with an improvement in filmmaking, because of the superficial makeup and the movement of the so-called ghost or the beast or whatever you my call them. Better horror movies have been made by other directors right from the 1949 movie Mahal with Ashok Kumar and Madhubala to Raaz 3, Ragini MMS and Bhool Bhuliya as they differ ....

Raghu CNG movie review
A simple auto-richshaw driver turns into a psychopath killer and a kidnapper. Raghu CNG is the thriller Gujarati film that begins with this ordinary looking auto rickshaw driver turn into a maniac with cold bloodily crushing another individual to death with a stone. Full credit is to be given to the writers Jay Parmar and Sanjay Marvaniya to have penned a gripping thriller. More so to the director Vishal Vada Vala for giving the right treatment to this gradually picking up suspense thriller. And more so because it is one of the rare Gujarati films to have explored this genre. Dhawal is a young businessman who is kidnapped and tortured by the rickshaw driver Raghu (Ethan). While the Police is investigating into the kidnapping case, they are ridden with another kidnapping of a US-return lady who is also reported missing from the station of a small town near Rajkot. Ra One - movie review
India’s most expensive film Ra One has finally released, with its aggressive pre-release promotion a month before its release. The special effects are excellent and are comparable to the best in Hollywood. Its concept is fine, the video game subject too is latest. Where it lacks, or what is unwanted is its scenes like the Karwa Chauth which is seen in the typical Indian TV soaps, and the protagonist, which the director thinks all the South Indians are curly haired. Ra One is the story of a father (Shah Rukh Khan) trying hard to ‘fit-in’ in his son’s (Master Armaan Verma) badass world, a cool dude son trying hard to ‘dude-up’ his dad from ‘aiiiyyyo’ to‘yo!’ and a mother (Kareena Kapoor) lost in translation between her husband’s ‘ingeva’ and her son’s ‘in’ it!’ Shah Rukh Khan plays a Subramaniyam - South Indian game designer, who still hasn’t come ....
