It is a season for movies inspired by real life events, it is also time to celebrate our 75th Independence day thus you see movies with patriotic themes, just the other day it was Shershah and now Bhuj The Pride of India. It is the story of valour of our unsung heroes of the 1971 war with Pakistan, the war which gave birth to a new nation namely Bangladesh. Streaming on Disney Hotstar Bhuj The Pride of India is about the tactical Pakistani attack on the western front of India to neutralize advance of Indian army into what was known as East Pakistan. Shershaah movie review
This is a season of biopics or stories with their roots in reality for Bollywood after some Hollywood movies of the same genre. There is going to be a spate of such films which will either be released on OTT or in cinema houses as they start opening up as this wave of Covid subsides. Starting with Shershaah streaming on Amazon Prime. The movie is based on the life and times of Captain Vikram Batra of the 13th JAK RIF and his role in the Kargil war. Movies based on the lives of real heros are always an inspiration for generations, this movie being no exception, this movie is solely dedicated to Captain Batra and his growing years, his love life and his dream of being a soldier. Heroes, movie review
Heroes is about two students who decide to make a movie on why ‘you should not join Indian armed forces’. During this process they meet a war reporter who gives them a task to deliver the last letters of three Kargil martyrs. These two friends Sameer Suri aka Saand (Sohail Khan) and Ali Shah aka Nawab Sahab (Vatsal Sheth) embark on a fun tour on motorbike and their experiences in the journey change their outlook towards life. As part of their project they are filming their experiences on the way. There are three stories interwoven in the script.
