Prasanth Mambully seeks Ganapati Bappa’s blessings
The launch took place at Mumbai’s GSB Seva Mandal Ganpati at King’s Circle, which is widely known as India’s wealthiest and most heavily insured Ganesh celebration, featuring an idol adorned with over 66 kg of gold and 335 kg of silver. Unlike many other pandals, traditional Vedic rituals, pujas, and sevas are performed continuously, 24 hours a day, throughout the five-day festival.
“Ganapati Bappa has showered blessings and love on our team,” an emotional Mambully revealed. “I feel extremely energized and positive about The Dinner. Our team is eager, energetic, and raring to begin filming this November.”
He further shared that pre-production activities are progressing at a brisk pace, with the creative and technical teams working extensively to bring his vision to life. Principal photography is scheduled to commence later this year amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Uttarakhand, which will serve as one of the film’s key shooting locations.

Mambully, a multilingual writer and director, has been in the industry for over two decades, showcasing expertise across various languages and genres. His directorial debut in 2008 featured Indian cinema legend Mohanlal, and he has since helmed seven films across four languages in India. Most recently, he wrote and directed Meta: The Dazzling Girl, which clinched the Best Experimental Film award at the Cannes World Film Festival.
“Meta was a non-dialogue survival film with a completely visual-driven narrative, where the face of the protagonist is never shown,” Mambully added. “There are no dialogues or writings throughout the film; instead, we relied on universal themes and language.”
The makers of The Dinner have revealed that details regarding the complete star cast, technical crew, and other key collaborators will be officially announced in the coming days. With an exciting concept, a seasoned director at the helm, and strong production backing, this rom-com is already creating a significant buzz among industry circles and cinema lovers alike.
