Hanuman Ansh -movie review

Bidding adieu to direction in Bollywood films, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is director David Dhawan's last film (as announced by him). Instead, this film falls much below expectations compared to David Dhawan's debut film Aankhen (highest grosser of 1993). Housefull 5 – movie review

Housefull 5 is a no-brainer slapstick comedy that is high on overexposure of skin show and the actresses reduced merely as a glamour quotient. At times the males mouthing crude and tasteless (supposed to be humorous) jokes on female characters. There is a strand of it being a suspense thriller towards the end, which too isn't effectively conveyed. It is replete with crude and nasty comedy. This fifth film of the Housefull sequel completely lacks the finesse, class and crisp humour of it's earlier films, particularly the first two parts. The latest movie Hungama 2 which credits it to be filmed by Priyadarshan has hit the OTT platform on Disney Hotstar (available to ordinary members) 23-07-21. it was supposed to be a follow-up of the hugely successful and highly rib- ticking comedy Hungama with even Paresh Rawal reprising the character Radheshyam Tiwari and Akshaye Khanna albeit in a special appearance however it is a very very big let down. This was not expected of Priyadarshan to come down to low level comedy in a high class environment. It is a good subject, only if it was handled with love and care which seemed missing here and just a rush to complete schedules. Why are all the characters screaming and why is everyone behaving like caricatures is beyond understanding. Haseen Dillruba – movie review

'Jawani janeman haseen dillruba, mile do Dil Jawan nisar Ho Gaya, Shikari khud yahan shikar Ho Gaya' thus sang Parveen Babi in Namak Halaal at that time we never visualised or even thought in our wildest dreams that we will be viewing and reviewing two vastly different movies which are titled with the first two letters and then the subsequent two letters of the song. So we had a dud in Jawani Janeman of Saif not too long ago, my sympathies with Aliyah Furniturewala, now it's the turn of Haseen Dilruba which is aptly described in the follow up line of the song i.e. Shikari Khud yahan shikaar ho gaya, any which way you see it. Now streaming on Netflix fresh out of Bollywood oven - which has this as it's catch line 'A damsel in distress or a devil's mistress' presenting the effervescent 'Haseen Dillruba'. This movie out and out belonged to the hero of the film, a new face. A bit of background of HERO is warranted here. Subhash Ghai the self-proclaimed showman of the film industry (a title earlier enjoyed by Raj Kapoor), wanted a replacement for Sanjay Dutt with whom he had a difficult time during the shooting of ‘Vidhataa’ after a search he zeroed in on Jaikishen Kakubhai Shroff or Jackie Shroff as we know him today and who is also lovingly called Jaggu Dada. Before this movie which catapulted Jackie and the heroine of the film Meenakshi Sheshadri (Miss India 1981) to unprecedented fame, both had done forgettable roles in ‘Swami Dada’ and ‘Painter Babu’ respectively.
