Get Set Go is an ambitious, genre-bending Gujarati film directed by Arnav Kumar. If you are tired of the same old Gujarati action movies with roaring sports cars and illogical action, there is a new film in town that tries something totally different. It breathes fresh air into the regional industry by ditching traditional family dramas for a high-octane masala action-thriller.
This movie introduces us to a unique world of bicycle gangs and high-stakes robberies on pedals. It mixes action, comedy, and a social message. While it has some predictable moments, the fresh concept and strong acting make it an interesting watch. Get Set Go scales new heights in technical execution, but its narrative occasionally derails due to predictable tropes and pacing issues.
Right at the start of the movie, Deepak Tijori’s character sets up the high stakes by explaining how crypto currency has changed the crime world. He points out that thieves no longer need big bags of cash. Instead, a criminal can carry 500 crores on a single, tiny flash drive and transfer it anywhere in seconds.
Further, in a tense moment, the main villain openly mocks the heroes – A challenge to the righteous! He argues that a common man stands absolutely no chance fighting with just a simple bicycle against a powerful empire armed with fast sports cars and fighter planes. This highlights the massive gap in power between both sides.
To counter the villain’s arrogance, the main hero delivers a powerful comeback. He explains that even a tiny mouse has the power to create absolute chaos for a mighty, giant elephant. This line serves as the emotional turning point that boosts the team’s confidence. The danger becomes deeply personal when the heroes discover a cruel plan by the villains to replace life-saving medicines with bogus, fake drugs. This scene shifts the movie into an urgent race against time to save innocent lives.
Get Set Go is about the Ultimate Underdog Battle:
At its heart, this movie is about the struggle of ordinary, everyday people fighting against immensely rich, powerful, and politically well-connected criminals. By using bicycles instead of heavy weapons, the film shows how honesty and teamwork can bring down a corrupt system.
Using bicycle gangs and pedalled heists instead of supercars introduces a unique, eco-friendly twist rarely seen in Gujarati cinema. The fresh bicycle-heist premise comes with stellar action choreography.
Veteran Bollywood actor Deepak Tijori delivers a commanding, authoritative performance that anchors the emotional weight of the film. It is commendable that he showed interest for working in Gujarati Cinema. Kudos brother!
The core trio—led by Bhaumik Sampat (VD) and Jhinal Belani (Kavya)—shares a sincere, energetic bonding that keeps the story grounded. Cinematographer Tapan Vyas expertly captures chaotic cycling chases and beautiful outdoor vistas. The visual effects are surprisingly sharp and represent a superior VFX effort compared to other regional budget films.
As regards to the supporting cast, Raunaq Kamdar is highly convincing as a determined police officer, while Dharmendra Gohil, the manipulative business baron, surprises audiences by stealing scenes with unexpected depth.
Where this action thriller falters
Even though the cycling element is fresh, the main story relies on a familiar commercial formula of “social justice meets heist.” You can easily guess what will happen next.
The screenplay struggles to maintain its speed, especially with the second-half pacing dragging out. Certain dramatic stretches last too long, which temporarily ruins the excitement built up by the action sequences.
The film tries to do too many things at once by balancing light comedy, a serious crime investigation, and deep social messages. Because it tries to balance all these different styles, some character arcs end up feeling slightly shallow.
Nevertheless, Get Set Go earns a respectable 3 stars out of 5 as it is a massive step forward for technical experimentation in Gujarati cinema. If you can look past the predictable story beats, it serves as an entertaining, stylish watch for families and action fans alike.
