Tum Mile – movie review

A Man and a Woman. Their past. A Storm... It happened that day

Tum Mile, movie review

“Somewhere in this storm a girl runs into her past. Somewhere in this storm a man sifts the embers of a burned out love. Somewhere in this storm death waits for them.” Tum Mile movie review…

Kunal Deshmukh, after his successful directorial debut in ‘Jannat’, directs a disaster movie – Tum Mile, depicting the tough days faced by Mumbaikars after the deluge of 26th July, 2005.

Tum Mile is a touching drama about how a life-changing event makes this couple realize that they’ve always loved each other.
Akshay (Emraan Hashmi) is a struggling artist and Sanjana (Soha Ali Khan), a successful journalist in Cape Town, South Africa. They happen to meet each other and fall in love. All is fine until there is a squabble, and ultimately they part ways.

The film starts with an in-flight sequence, where both Emraan & Soha get to meet each other after many years and remember the good times spent together in flashbacks which ends up as a rollercoaster ride through some of the darkest hours of Mumbai as Akshay and Sanjana see the city get swamped with disaster and loss and are forced to stick together in this time of crisis.

Suddenly after six years come face-to-face one day when everything around them is falling apart in the torrential downpour on 25th July 2005. Wading through waist-deep waters, Akshay and Sanjana contemplate their failed romance.

The story of Tum Mile shifts perspective between their past and present.

And a formidable present where Akshay and Sanaja come together, their fears and insecurities and past demons revealed while struggling to make their way through Mumbai’s stormiest night.

As emotions run high and disaster reigns supreme, the film is about how they survive the night that threatens to take over the city and all in it.

Emraan Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan strike up fine romantic chemistry between them.

The film’s special effects are impressive especially, the flood sequences have been shot convincingly which must have been a tough task for the whole team and even the lead pair. Tum Mile has a good romantic story where Emraan & Soha have given impressive performances. About Emraan, he improvises from his own lover boy image from his previous movies. Soha has given a mature performance. Radio Jockey Mantra, as Emraan’s friend is an impressive character. Music Director Pritam has scored again with two romantic and foot tapping songs.
