Phhir - movie review

You reap what you sow. A simple description of the plot of Phhir which is about reincarnation.

Pravin Bhatt, the cinematographer has shot the beautiful locations of New Castle in the United Kingdom and it enhances the creepy effect in this suspense thriller.

Lead pair of the bollywood film ‘1920’, Adah Sharma and Rajneesh Duggal are again paired together in this movie Phhir. The third character of that of television actress Roshni Chopra, who makes her big screen debut with this film.

The handsome Kabir Malhotra (Rajneesh Duggal) is a physician by profession. He falls in love with Sia (Roshni Chopra) and marries her. A happy marriage and a budding career is here to last not for long.

Sia goes missing one day and thus begins a dreadful experience for Kabit. In his search of wife, he meets Disha (Adah Sharma), who can see the past and the future by touching and looking at objects and people. She gives him clues which take him closer to the mystery of his missing wife.

As they go deeper in their effort to search for Sia, it is discovered that she has been kidnapped for a ransom, and the matters get murkier.

More so, as Disha uses her psychic powers and sees complicated things. The chase begins, Kabir with Disha’s help, and the police tracing out the kidnappers.

As the plot thickens, it leads to startling and shocking discoveries and also unravels the mysteries of the past.

At certain moments, the director succeeds in giving it the look and feel of a Hollywood thriller.

One has to pay for bad ‘karma’, if not in this life, certainly in the next one and the way to salvation is being good.

Phirr stands out from other bollywood suspense thrillers in the film’s production design, direction and for its excellent performances from the trio – Rajnish, Adah and Roshni. This film has one of the best cinematography for a bollywood thriller.

Phhir is and engrossing thriller which begins and progresses so rapidly that you would not want to take off your eyes off the screen from even a moment. Except that towards the end, it has a predictable suspense which the bollywood directors have still hung on to.
