Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Param Sundari is a romantic comedy film directed by Tushar Jalota that falls below expectations, particularly after watching it’s exciting trailer.
Param (Sidharth Malhotra) is a Punjabi boy who travels all the way to the South to meet Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor) with matrimony in view. It was through a matrimonial site that suggest Sundari would be a good match for this Punjabi boy.
This premise sounds interesting but what comes later is disenchanting as Sundari’s guardian Bhargavan Nair (Renji Panicker) insists that she marry her childhood friend who is now a qualified doctor having graduated abroad and more so because he is of the same caste.
While love blossoms between Param and Sundari amid the picturesque backwaters of Kerala, the film falls short in it’s narrative appearing like one of those been there and seen it romantic flicks of the past.
Though Param had come to Kerala just check out the reliability and validity of the Matrimonial app where he aimed to invest in, he naturally falls in love with Sundari and before announcing his feelings, the girl loses her confidence in this relationship.
On the acting front, except for the dash, energy and enthusiasm of Sidharth Malhotra and the impulsive, lively and sparkling presence of Janhvi Kapoor don’t expect anything else. Yes there is some eye relief watching marvellous cinematography of Kerala’s scenic locations, Param Sundari has average music and no other novelty. Songs picturisation by Brinda Gopal and Jani Master are eye-pleasing but there’s no wow factor in the choreography.
Tushar Jalota’s uninspired direction fails to bring the story to life. In conclusion, Param Sundari can be summed up as an average love story, yet it could be worth a watch for die-hard fans of Sidharth Malhotra (including this writer of course!) and the liveliness of Janhvi Kapoor.
