Damadamm, earlier titled as Ishq Unplugged, It is Bollywood comedy film directed by Swapna Waghmare, starring Himesh Reshammiya, Sonal Sehgal and Purbi Joshi in lead roles in a rom-com that comes across as a slice of life film. To put it simply, it is the story about two girls and a guy. Damadamm movie review…
Himesh Reshammiya is a respected Music Director and a singer himself. Not all singers are handsome or talented as actors, and not all actors are as good as singer as compared to their acting prowess. As an actor our Himeshbhai is way below the mark. He is not chocolate faced nor does have the built to boast of, and yes as an actor is his less talented than his singing. So would it not be better he sticks to where he is the best – Music and Singing?
The film Damadamm is the story of Sameer (Himesh Reshammiya) who has finally got his freedom when his stubby-girlfriend Shikha (Purbi Joshi) has left for a family wedding. His life is perfect, except that he has an over-possessive and constantly nagging girl-friend in his life.
The girl friend claims she trusts him, when obviously she doesn’t. Shikha calls him all the time; and each time he has “reasons” – low battery, bad connectivity, and other fabricated lies.
On second thoughts, she has logic, as in a relationship she has the right to feel loved and wanted by her partner. When this is a bit overstretched, it is called “over possiveness”.
He feels like the happiest person in the world, he parties, drinks, and even flirts with girls. He enjoys his freedom while he can.
The other character is his boss’ sister (Sonal Sehgal) who is open-minded and smiles sweetly at him, and believes that people should be given `their space’. The hero is impressed! He gets drawn towards her. All hell breaks loose when the girlfriend returns from her hometown. Sameer is in a fix.
Himesh is not bad looking, but as mentioned earlier, he is best as a singer. Sonal Sehgal looks alluring and acts well. Purbi Joshi is impressive. A known name in television drama, she is most welcome to bollywood cinema.
Damadamm’s original soundtrack has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Sachin Gupta while the lyrics are penned by Sameer, Himesh Reshammiya and Shabbir Ahmed. It has two chart busting numbers, the ‘No touching’ and “Umrao Jaan” which is sung by Himesh Reshammiya himself.
The film begins well, but as it progresses, the plot gets predictable after a point and loses the steam. Nothing is great about this film except the two catchy songs which are well picturised and the film does have some hilarious lines that do bring a smile on your face.
