Tulsi Chaudhary’s mission to support aspiring female actors

Tulsi Chaudhary

Tulsi Chaudhary

The magic of Bollywood is such that few years back a petite, beautiful girl from a small town near Aligarh which doesn’t even have a cinema hall, decided to make it big in the filmy town of India.

Daughter of a Police Officer, Tulsi Chaudhary is a graduate from that town. During her school days she was most impressed by the wonder-woman Kalpana Chawla who scaled such height – actually out of this world. Tulsi wondered that if Kalpana madam can reach the stars, why couldn’t she?

Bollywood Dreams

On the insistence of her parents she finished her Bachelors in Arts and packed her back to Mumbai – the land of dreams only to experience the menace of casting couch prevalent in this filmy town. Not succumbing to the indecent proposals and facing hardships, Tulsi returned to her home town.

But there was a difference in the mind-set of this girl. Disappointed – yes, yet she vowed to return to the B-town. Tulsi has incorporated Sheeny Star Maker Pvt. Ltd – an Events and Production House which has organized several events across India and overseas. A milestone was created at an event organized by her in Delhi that featured Govinda and the audience attendance crossed over 15,000.

She also holds the distinction of being the first lady in Aligarh University to share the dais with Nawazuddin Siddiqui with a certificate of recognition for Dedicated Service to Bollywood from the Aligarh Cultural Club. The other recognitions conferred on her are from SIMS Kuwait for Outstanding Performance for event, Zilla Panchayat of Meerut’s Guest of Honour at  Punjabi Nights and AMU Filmsaaz’s Special Jury Award for her performance in the film Yeh Kaisa Nasha.

You have acted in several Television shows and Shorts. Could you apprise the Filmy Town readers about your work?

On returning to my hometown, I received offers from some genuine filmmakers and one of them was Nisha Pahuja, the Canadian Director of ‘The World Before Her’ and then ‘Yeh Kaisa Nasha’ that has collected over 2 million views. Anurag Kashyap Sir spoke to Nishaji appreciating my work. I was so glad.

What made you come back to the filmy town?

My company Sheeny Star Maker has devised an unique strategy to give a platform to deserving female aspirants in Bollywood. Hence we have planned to hold the Miss Indo-Asia Beauty Pageant to support the struggling actresses and those desiring to enter into Bollywood without the troubles of facing the ills faced by the hopefuls.

What is the Miss Indo-Asia Beauty Pageant about?

We held auditions across 27 cities all over India and overseas too. The finals would be judged by an ex-Miss India Beauty Queen alongwith a panel of judges comprising a reputed Producer, Actor, Actress, Fashion Designer, Choreographer, Fashion Photographer among others.

What is the motive behind the Miss Indo-Asia Beauty Pageant?

The finalists of this pageant will be given a complete tour of filmmaking processes in Bollywood. They will be officially visiting On Location shoots of the films in progress, workings in the Dubbing Studios, editing studios and will be groomed for the film industry by conducting workshops in Acting. We do not intend to give them any false promises of a role in the film. Instead we want them to become more confident with awareness of the various departments of filmmaking. Mr Raju Karia the respected Bollywood PRO will be assisting them as well with his company V3 Media handling Public Relations of the event.
