Ludo (2020) movie review
Netflix's latest offering as their original feature film,  Ludo the eponymous board game which everyone as a child would have played. Lately it seems to have caught on the fancy of young and old alike in it's online Avatar. It sounds like an unlikely name for a movie and does aroused curiosity. Ludo, the movie juxtaposes this game as and with the game of life. One gets excited and is expectant to see something different or new, as for the last few offerings on the various OTT platforms are anything but entertaining or even vaguely logical. It seems that the makers set out to make something good with the kind of themes and story ideas at their disposal but somewhere in the intervening period they lose their way and the story meanders and hurtles towards its climax. This epic action-adventure film has Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. The story Written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who earlier directed the blockbuster hit Dhoom 3. Dangal, hindi movie review
The master actor is back again with this bio-pic sports, drama playing the role of a Wrestling Champion Mahavir Singh Phogat who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. Geeta is India's first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she won the gold medal in the 55 kg category while her younger sister Babita Kumari won the silver in the 51 kg category. Aamir Khan and the entire crew underwent taining for months for the wrestling sequences in Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari who earlier directed Chillar Party and Bhootnath Returns. Mahavir Singh Phogat was an amateur wrestler, forced to give up wrestling in order to obtain gainful employment. He was unable to win a gold medal for India and vows that his son will, one day.
