Vidya Sinha (Vidya Balan) is a single mom, working woman happily living with her daughter in Chandannagar a small town in West Bengal. Her teenaged daughter is wheelchair ridden hence the mother keeps a nurse while she is out in her office. This morning, the mother-daughter wake up late, so while rushing around with her morning chores, Vidya realizes that the nurse hasn't come for her duty. This caring mother ensures that her old neighbour keeps a periodic watch on her house till the time nurse arrives to keep her daughter some company. ROY - Hindi movie review
The subject is abstract and more so is the story telling of ROY. This film is not for the masses, its for the pseudo-intellectuals, to be precise. Debutant director Vikramjit Singh who is also the writer of this romantic thriller is innovative in his presentation of life and times of a successful yet quirky filmmaker. A different approach in showing on screen, the moods, senses, sensitive moments and the dreams of a director while he is working on the story simultaneously directing the film. Inkaar 2013 movie review
Inkaar is yet another film with the typical Sudhir Mishra type of a stamp. The film is realistic, hard hitting and is about gender politics and power play in a corporate house (in particular here as in advertising agencies). Inkaar begins as a love story of Rahul Verma (Arjun Rampal) and Maya Luthra (Chitrangada Singh) and then it goes on to become an eyeopener for the current generation of executives.
