Kismet Love Paisa Dilli – movie review

Lokesh, Lovina miss the last metro train to Lajpatnagar...

Set in Delhi, Kismet Love Paisa Dilli (KLPD) is a one night madcap story of Lokesh (Vivek Oberoi) and Lovina (Mallika Sherawat).

Lokesh is a college going middle class guy and Lovina is the girl next door, who miss their last metro back home and then it is an eventful night with a series of on the edge moments occurring where Lokesh and Lovina run across Delhi on this roller coaster of a night from cold streets to glitzy farm house parties all to gradually fall in love.

Lokesh assists his cameraman friend to attend a party hosted by VIPs inDelhi, and then an incident brings about a series of unexpected events in his life.

In the party, he falls for the anchor Lovina who has to return home by taking the last metro train at 11.40. He stalks her and instead gets involved in the death of a mysterious pretty woman (Neha Dhupia). He gets off the metro and Lovina also misses the last metro to Lajpatnagar.

Kismet Love Paisa Dilli’s inherent flaw is its senseless script, cheap gags and the presence of quite a few oddball characters.

Walking on the deserted streets of the capital city, there are other nocturnal characters like the Captain (Ashutosh Rana) and his friends who want to celebrate Captain’s birthday with the intention of looting shops or whatever comes their way.

There is also an innocent pizza-fast food delivery-boy Nunnoo (Anshuman Jha) who is cheated of his money at all the delivery spots so he turns into a flying- maniac who bites his culprits’ ears.

To add to the mystery, the director has infused some missing sting tape, and situations where Lokesh and Lovina get involved with another group of cops who are hand in glove with a politician, a rival politician’s son who indulges in partying freaky style and then a Sikh wedding ceremony. .

It is a pity that this talented director of Kismet Love Paisa Dilli Sanjay Khanduri had come up with Abhay Deol starrer thriller Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local.

Performances are not worth a mention as Mallika Sherawat looks dull and washed out, Vivek Oberoi isn’t impressive and there is a mixture of weird characters. Only the character of Captain played by Ashutosh Rana does engage you.

Kismet Love Paisa Dilli has average direction, no catchy songs except the Dhiskyon number and the story drags towards the end.
