ARDHSATYA – Gujarati Play

Ardhsatya - Gujarati Play

An intriguing mystery about case M.M.R.28 (Missing Minors Register). Not only an intriguing mystery with twists and turns, Ardhsatya delves into the psyche of a middle class family who has just shifted to distance suburbs from her SoBo (South Mumbai) residence.

While they are in the process of adapting to the hectic lifestyle in their new neighborhood, and the life in suburbia, the old man (Sameer Khakkar) comprehends that his 16 year old grand-daughter hasn’t yet returned from her college, and instantly, their life turns upside down.

His daughter in-law Kusum (Amee Trivedi in an all out brilliant performance) takes help of her neighbor to go and lodge a complaint at the local police station.

A single mother, Kusum Solanki registers a case of a missing 16 year old daughter Hetal. The case is registered in the missing minors register (M.M.R.) 6 months pass and inspite of following every known method to track a lost person, the police fail to track the girl and a hue and cry is raised in the media.

There are several digs at the Police System while going into the detailed workings in the system with upright cops as well as those habitually bending the system with the clout of their position.

It is after a period of six months that Investigating officer Digambar Acharya eventually finds this girl and brings her home but to his utter shock Kusum refuses to accept and identify her as her daughter.

There are several questions arising about where was the girl all this while?

The mother smells something amiss with the girl, and goes on to take help of the child’s tutor, and then the family dentist (played by Jay Bhatt) collecting evidence to prove that the girl isn’t her missing daughter, with some information on technicalities of science and medicine.

Raj Vazir as the Investigating officer is convincing, Rajesh Solanki as the helpful neighbour is impressive, Amee Trivedi carries the play on her shoulders, while it is the promising Sharvi Moti as the surprise package.

Initially though being mediocre about the references of being in SoBo as well as other interactions with the friendly neighbor (Rajesh Solanki) and the usual rounds at the Police Station, the story picks up around mid-way and then on it’s a gripping journey towards the end where every scene lays down a mesh of clues and chilling turn around.
