Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story – movie review

Luvgiri... more danger than Bhaigiri

A crime-romantic film, Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story follows the life of Jayantabhai (Vivek Oberoi), a small time gangster falls unexpectedly in love with Simran (Neha Sharma) his neighbor. The film is produced by Kumar S. Taurani and directed by Vinnil Markan.

Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story is the story about how people unexpectedly fall in love with the people whom they had least expected to even in their dreams.

Jayantabhai is a street-thug who lives in Mumbai, a happy-go-lucky and a complacent single guy. Just staying opposite to his door is another tenant – Simran, who is a simple young girl, a go-getter and a rebel. They are worlds apart.

Here is a light and frothy romantic comedy of a small time gangster and a simple, jobless damsel who has come to Mumbai for a job. Simran comes to Mumbai and stays in a rented apartment, and it has Jayantabhai as her neighbour.

Jayantabhai works for Altafbhai (Zakir Husain) and aspires to be the local don’s right hand man. Simran, on the other hand, is penniless and job hunting.

Amidst job hunting for the girl and getting involved in gang-rivalry for Jayantabhai, romance brews unexpectedly and they fall in love.

Jayantabhai’s path crosses Alex Pandiyan who is an ex-cop turned gangster and this is the parallel story, as if to give the viewer a break from the growing romance of the lead pair. Anyway its welcome and the blooming of romance between the most unlikely persons gives freshness to the story.

Vivek Oberoi is the cool, confident tapori gangster who is just another neighbour in his house. He is convincing as the nervous character before the girl’s father, and a vengeance emitting gangster who avenges his insults with Alex Pandiyan.

Neha Sharma looks pretty. She quite carries off the role of a struggling single girl in this megacity. Before doing this film, Neha was a top model and doesn’t need to put in any efforts to enhance her beauty. For her debut film, she is just fine.

She needs to put in more efforts in her acting abilities.

Joking re…
