Evelyn Sharma wants to do meaningful cinema

Rumor has it that the Sunny Sunny girl, Evelyn Sharma, who shot to fame through her comic roles in films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is quite particular when it comes to choosing her films.

After her first solo lead film Ishqedarriyaan became a surprise hit on various networks all over the world, this Punjabi kudi has been refusing all roles that portrait too much glamour.

Sources close to the actress say: “Evelyn wants to do meaningful cinema. She gets offers all the time for films in the horror, sensual thriller or sex-comedy genre, but it’s simply not what she’s looking for.” Admired by the audience for her cute expressions and magical screen presence, Evelyn Lakshmi Sharma has gained herself respect among her colleagues by not succumbing to the temptations of fame.

I am very proud of the films I have done so far and am looking forward to the release of my upcoming rom-com Jack & Dil with Amit Sadh”, says the girl who had moved to India to discover her father’s roots but ended up as one of the most celebrated international models turned actress, signing five films in her very first year and working with the big shots of Bollywood from Ranbir Kapoor to Shah Rukh Khan.

“I am reading scripts now to choose my next film and it has become very clear to me that whichever script I choose must have a social message and leave an impact for my fans to ponder on. I won’t compromise because I know it’s worth the wait until I find the kind of films I want to be remembered for,” she reveals.

Added Evelyn Sharma, “I have also started writing my own scripts and am very excited about the response I’m getting for them. I love being creative. But what thrills me most is being able to inspire change in people’s thinking and to exhilarate progress in our country and beyond!”
