Murder 2 - movie review

Murder 2 is the sequel to the 2004 film which has Mallika Sherawat – Enraan Hashmi’s Murder. It is an unofficial remake of the South Korean movie The Chaser.

The story of Murder 2 is about a serial killer, murdering all the girls in the flesh trade. He is being tracked by a detective an ex cop played by Emraan Hashmi.

Arjun Bhagwat (Emraan Hashmi) is an ex-cop, who used to work for Goa police. He has no other source of income, so wants money and earns his bread by doing all wrong and good things. He is an atheist and doesn’t believe in God, but in contrast, he regularly visits church to donate off and on big money to orphans.

There is a pimp-cum-gangster -Sameer, who has been going through the bad phase of his business due to disappearance of his hookers. Sameer thinks it is only Arjun Sir who would investigative and locate the missing girls for which a big amount is offered to Arjun Bhagwat.

There is another cute girl Jacqueline Fernandez who is a model, who is in a relationship with Arjun.

Arjun starts his investigation and finds a cell number which linked to missing girls. He then decides to send a dummy girl to arrest the culprit. There is a college girl Reshma (Sulagna Panigrahi) who gets involved in prostitution to feed her family. Arjun wants the pimp to sends Reshma as bait and sends her to a house after calling on that number.

This character Dheeraj Pandey (Prashant Narayanan) is a psychopath killer helped by his friend Pandita. It is he who has killed the missing hookers. So he will be doing the same with Reshma. This time he wants the hooker to go through a torture so he throws her into the bottom of a dark well were he has disposed the bodies of all the other hookers he has killed.

Reshma manages to escape from Pandey’s house when he is called in for police questioning for the missing hookers.

This Dheeraj Pandey after a lot of interrogation finally accepts his crime. But Arjun has just one night to prove Dheeraj being a serial killer. Arjun fails to do so and Dheeraj comes out of police station as a free bird with the help of his friend, Pandita.

The ex-cop also uses Priya as the next bait and wants to arrest Pandey red handed. So he sends Priya to Dheeraj Pandey’s house and then it is an interesting twist to the tale.

In Murder 2 we have a sexy-model character played by Jacqueline Fernandez, who simply has no definite role in the movie but is there only for a glamour quotient. Emraan Hashmi and Prashant Narayan were just splendid! Jacqueline who is expected to be the eye candy and she does it well. She adds more spice than Mallika Sherawat.

Music is good and Aye Khuda is shot in a brilliant way. Background score by Raju Singh is okay. Though the dialogues are crisp. The actions and visuals in Murder 2 were dark and intense, apt to the theme. Anyway the director Mohit Suri had his heart and mind on the correct track so it is worth watch anyways!

Murder 2 is a Bloody Suspense Thriller and it remains an engrossing thriller throughout.
