Alpana (Kanupriya Sharma) and Dev (Firoz Khan) are a young happily married couple whose closest friends are Lisa (Dolly Arya) and Yash (Ashwin Dhar). Dev and Yash are childhood friends with Yash treating Dev almost as close to him as his brother. Lisa is a modern, outgoing lady who is in a live-in relationship with Yash, while Alpana is comparitively conservative and culture-minded.
Despite the fact that Alpana and Dev cannot have a child due to Dev’s infertility, Alpana loves her husband so much that she doesn’t let it be known to the others in the society. In particular she doesn’t even let her mother-in-law know about Dev’s problem and prefers to be an ideal ‘Bhartiya Naari’ who faces swear words such as inauspicious witch, infertile bitch from her mother-in-law. Probably it could be due to Alpana and Dev getting married much against the wishes of Dev’s parents.
Dev is quite supportive of Alpana and loves her to the core, no matter what. During several times the couple are advised to go in for alternate methods of bearing a child, but Alpana doesn’t want to follow the procedure which she feels is against the nature and more so against the Indian culture.
Once, on a dark night in absence of her husband, ALPANA gets raped and gets to know that she is pregnant. Although it was the happiest moment which she longed for, the same time her emotions are in turmoil. The circumstances were such, that she unwillingly had to accept the child or else her marriage could have been in danger since her in-laws were against it, but she was still bent upon to find out the culprit.
Will she be able to know the culprit? Will she succeed in getting justice? What will happen to the child? Fairr in Love is more about this.
It is the supporting cast of Dolly Arya and Ashwin Dhar in Fairr in Love who come out as convincing and happy-go-lucky couple. There are some unrealistic moments – like that of Dev’s father shown as an extrimist, mentioning about socio-economic programs of the present government and the inclusion of several songs which take you back to the 70s and 80s.
