Dhadak 2 movie review
Dhadak 2 is a love story? Nah! It is a poignant conversation on privilege and what it means to have or not have it. Dhadak 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film by Shashank Khaitan and an official adaptation of the 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (also the name of the male protagonist) by Mari Selvaraj that sheds light on caste based atrocities (we have left discrimination in the rearview mirror at this point). Within the first 5 minutes of Pariyerum Perumal, Mari Selvaraj shows you just how raw and real this journey is going to be. He does not hold back on the gut-wrenching, bone-chilling imagery (something that is seldom, if at all, seen in mainstream Indian cinema) that is not for the faint of heart. But that is the reality we live in, and he serves it right back, reminding us of the cruelty we have constructed in the name of society. Not only is the screenplay in on Mari ....

Saiyaara movie review
Remember the Hollywood film - Fault in Our Stars? Or the new generation - the Korean romantic doomed love story - A moment to remember? Saiyaara is 'inspired' (polished form of conveying the idea) by these ill-fated love stories with gloss and an Indian flavour with new lead pair Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda with a predictable ending. No doubt the film hinges on the freshness and raw innocence of the lead pair of Ahaan Panday (Krish) and Aneet Padda (Vaani). Saiyaara is an evocative and heartfelt film that explores the complex tapestry of love, faith, and destiny. Ahaan Panday oozes raw energy that is in contrast to Aneet Padda's emotional scenes. Directed with finesse, the movie weaves a compelling narrative that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish. Though it stretches in the second half. The film tells the story of a young protagonist torn between tradition and modernity, ....

Kuberaa movie review filmytown.com
Kuberaa marks the first-ever collaboration between National Award-winning actor Dhanush and acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula. Without diving into too much detail, the film Kuberaa sets out to trace how a destitute man is drawn into the world of the ultra-rich before he rises to the occasion and begins to control the game. This trope is familiar territory in cinema, and while the writer-director uses it to his advantage, he also succeeds to refrain successfully from going overboard with Deva’s (Dhanush) heroism. Kuberaa, alias Deepak Nagarjuna) who is essentially a nice sleuth from CBI is forced to turn a high-level fixer for a corporate conglomerate (run by Jim Sarbh( Neeraj Mithra) and his father (Dalip Tahil), while Mandanna plays Sameera, a commoner girl (comically) dealing with life’s many struggles. Kuberaa understands the importance of these archetypes, but also takes care ....

IC 814 - The Kandahar Hijack review
The OTT series IC 814 - The Kandahar Hijack released on and made for Netflix on 29th August 2024 is concerning everything you wanted to know about the darkest chapter in aviation hijack history of India. As the credits say the series is inspired by real events and includes an adaptation of a book titled ‘Flight Into Fear’ written by Devi Sharan (the original captain of IC 814) and Shrinjoy Chowdhury. It throws light on the events that led to and ahead of the subsequent release during the hijack of Indian flight IC 814. As it is a true story which envisages the utter failure of the bureaucratic machinery and the series also depicts an equal apathy of the coalition government of the time. When the negotiations with hijackers or commando action could have been completed on Indian soil as the plane first landed in Amritsar, it was sent hopping first to Lahore, then Dubai and finall ....

Ulajh movie review
A spy thriller, Ulajh focuses on the glorious achievements of a IFS lady officer who is entangled in a crafted conspiracy that could end up finishing her career, her father's elevation to the topmost foreign diplomat and a face-saving embarrassment for India. Going by the past films produced by Junglee Pictures, they had produced the flawless spy thriller Raazi and the crime thriller Talwar, while their highly anticipated their new film Ulajh falls below expectations with several loose ends, flaws and the illogical super-smartness of an Indian IFS officer over foreign ambassadors and bureaucrats. In her first posting out of India to Nepal, Suhana Bhatia (Janhvi Kapoor), the grand daughter of a patriot and daughter of a very senior bureaucrat Dhanraj Bhatia (Adil Hussain) is successful in blackmailing the ambassador of that country. While back in India, Suhana is too focused in her ....

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha movie review
We are reviewing this Ajay Devgn  Tabu starrer 'Auron mein kahan dam tha'  which is about a couple's  love story that ranges 23 years from 2000 to 2023.  After watching the entire film, any mature viewer would have felt that the apt title should have been - Audience mein Kahan Dimag tha??!! This flick starring Ajay Devgan and Tabu with Jimmy Shergill in tow, and I wonder what made Jimmy to sign it? The movie is an old tale of Bollywood movies of 70s and 80s, that is about a young loverboy (Shantanu Maheshwari who plays the character of young Ajay Devgn) killing people to save the honour of his beloved (Saiee Manjrekar playing the young character of Tabu) thus going to jail and scarifying his whole life. Yes, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha delves into the emotional depth but isn't is somewhat like the stories of the 70s and the 80s? Anyway, writer-director Neeraj Pandey has added an u ....

Pyaari Tarawali film review
Pyaari Tarawali The True Story traces the journey of emotions and struggles that a girl goes through yet it also depicts (though subtly) the helplessness of a single man who is subject to ridicule just because he is still unmarried at the age of 38. This man works hard to keep his wife happy but towards the end his wife deserted him as this woman had some more desires in life that she gets swayed by sweet talks of her ex-boyfriend and ends up in a mess only for her own wrong-doings. Pyaari in her infanthood had been bought up by her mother narrating a story that one day a Knight in Shining Armor would come and marry this girl who would then rule as a Queen and live happily ever after. Is that the end? No. Pyaari had unending desires for herself. Though Pyaari had suffered marriage break-up twice, the third time she found the right man who respected her, cared and loved her, yet ....
