The Witness short film review
The Witness, a short indie fiction film directed by Troy Ribeiro, is a hauntingly quiet exploration of the heavy burden of memory and the corrosive nature of long-held secrets. Rather than relying on grand cinematic gestures, Ribeiro focuses on the internal landscape of a man nearing the end of his life, turning a simple domestic scene into a profound moral dilemma. Strolling through childhood lanes, watching rain bubbles, and sitting alone by riverbanks are a safe escape for Joaquim (Rajendra Gupta), who feels more at home with old memories than in the present. Cinematographer Lovekesh Vij deserves credit for this lovely framing, capturing moments that convey the "satisfied inner-self" of a protagonist content with containing his secrets. Joaquim has mastered the art of being alone; he is the "happiest person in the world" until his wife, Olga (Sushmita Mukherjee), begins to prod - w ....

Kalamanch the Web series review Drama
Experience the raw and unfiltered first episode of Kalamanch, where a group of strangers begins a simple acting class that quickly evolves into something much deeper. As their protective walls crack, vulnerabilities surface, and for some, this stage becomes the only space where they can truly be themselves. Eight strangers. One acting school. A journey none of them expected. Kalamanch isn't just about the craft of acting; it’s about confronting one's own truth. The series has already earned accolades as an official selection at various international film festivals, including the Tasveer Film Festival. It beautifully emphasises that acting is the ability to live truthfully under imaginary circumstances—where an actor is, at most, a poet and, at least, an entertainer. The Ensemble cast consists of a diverse range of characters to life. Hiten (Amit Poddar) is a young man obsess ....

Mauje Dariya movie review
Mauje Dariya is a vibrant Gujarati comedy-drama directed by Parry Majmudar that balances youthful ambition with lighthearted social commentary. The film serves as a poignant highlight of India’s young generation that is ambitious, hardworking, and willing to do what it takes to rise while learning valuable lessons along the way. The film follows a delivery boy who takes a risky job running alcohol (that is prohibited in the state) to fund his father’s surgery. The story takes a chaotic turn during a wealthy client’s party when a gunshot leads to mass unconsciousness and collective amnesia, leaving the characters to untangle a murder scheme amidst identity confusion. A standout element is its handling of alcohol prohibition in Gujarat. The script offers a sharp social critique by capturing the simmering frustration of a generation caught between Western lifestyle aspirations a ....

Vadh 2 movie review Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta
A couple of years ago, Vadh, a crime thriller starring Sanjay Mishra and Neera Gupta had released. But it's sequel, Vadh 2 is in no way is it connected to the earlier franchise. Probably to take advantage of its predecessor's success, Vadh 2 is made using the same title. Sanjay Mishra has done a great job playing the role of Shambhunath Mishra. He is a prisoner in the jail, and in the adjacent prison, Neena Gupta is imprisoned for committing two murders. This is not a story between the two. The story is has a louder and a bigger perspective. We have Prakash Singh, a good police warden, but Komal Mishra is the authoritarian jailer and another character, Shilpa Shukla, who plays Rajni the jail warden. Keshav (Akshay Dogra) a notorious character who is politically connected, disappears from the jail premises. How does he disappear? Why does he disappear? And will the jail authoriti ....

Mayasabha movie review
Rahi Anil Barve presents a contemporary representation of the magical palace in Mahabharata to convey the spiritual meaning through material form that focuses on a cinema hall in atmospheric ruins. Delving deeper is the core characteristic of greed in humans. Mayasabha is an abstract thriller - not meant for the masses. The hall of Illusion - Mayasabha is a single-location immersive film that explores the corrosive nature of greed. Though it carves out its own idiosyncratic, theatrical identity. Mayasabha's most important character is a dilapidated Mumbai cinema hall that reeks "moral rot and decay" through meticulously layered smoke, red hues, and ghostly shadows.

Readers expecting a traditional thriller would get 'lost in the fog'

Meant for those devoted moviegoers, especially the ones who are knowledgeable about the cinema. What stand ....

Border 2 movie review
Based on the 1971 India–Pakistan war, covering Operation Chengiz Khan, the Battle of Poonch, the Battle of Basantar, and the defence of INS Khukri, Border 2 is the sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster Border. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film captures the grit and sacrifice of frontline soldiers while showcasing the combined strength of the Indian Army, Air Force and the Indian Navy. Its scale sets it apart, offering audiences a sweeping view of multi-front operations. With several war films released recently, Border 2 stands out for its well-crafted battle sequences, overseen by producer J.P. Dutta. Unlike its predecessor, it avoids excessive melodrama and comedy, opting for a more restrained presentation. However, compared to films like Dhurandhar and URI, some action scenes feel slightly tacky. Sunny Deol reprises his role as the central protagonist, joined by Varun D ....
