The beauties who got the lucky break in a Bollywood film, some pretty ones and some talented also.
Nargis Fakhri’s impressive debut in director Imtiaz Ali’s film Rockstar, who had appeared in Americas Next Top Models contest. She had also appeared in Kingfisher Swimsuit calender 2009. By the way she is the only actress who appeared in her first film in 2011 at the age of 32. Or shall we say the senior most debut by a female star.
Hazel Keech the Essex girl landed in Bollywood in Bodyguard as Kareena Kapoor’s friend. Remember, she is the one who appeared in insignificant role in the second, third and fourth instalment of Harry Potter films.
Sarah Jane Dias the Femina Miss India World (2007) had launched her career in a Tamil film in 2010 and now she appears in Bollywood in Abhinay Deo’s film Game with Abhishek Bachchan.
Parineeti Chopra, Priyanka Chopra’s cousin was noticed by director Maneesh Sharma while she was working in the YRF office in the marketing and PR department. Being the lucky one she got the break purely on merits. Parineeti cleared the screen test at one go, and she is the one with the impressive role in Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl. Her next release was even more impressive – Ishaqzaade with Arjun Kapoor.
Candice Boucher, the South African model who modelled for Playboy, FHM and on the cover of Elle, made her debut this year in the thriller Aazaan which starred Sachin J. Joshi.
TV star Sulagna Panigrahi who had prominent presence in a number of TV serials like Bidaai and Do Saheliyaan made a debut in Bollywood as a reluctant escort girl in Murder 2.
Kajal Aggarwal – who was noticed in Tamil and Telugu films and quite established herself down South, was introduced by Rohit Shetty in the Blockbuster – Singham. This girl is very talented.
Preeti Desai was elected Miss Great Britain 2006 by the British public in a poll of readers of The Sun newspaper. Even before her debut this year in Shor In The City, she was a staple of gossip mills for her relationship with actor Abhay Deol.
Producer Karim Morani’s daughter Zoa Morani was first seen in the film Always Kabhi Kabhi.
Here is the more luckier one. Tara D’Souza appeared in two films last year. As Ali Zafar’s girl friend in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge as the vibrant Malvika.
Poorna Jagannathan, the full-time American actress, before appearing as the scribe in Delhi Belly, had already worked in a number of films and TV series like Law & Order, Montclair, and Royal Pains.
