Filmy Town catches up with Uvie who has rendered the male voice which complements Kanika Kapoor’s song – Jawaani Le Doobi from the upcoming film ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3’.

UVIE began his career in association with T-Series where he used to render his voice to sing Bhajans. Simultaneously he has recorded re-mix versions of more than 100 Bhajans and then came a phase when realized that he was stuck at one point, and it was that burning itch within him which wanted to do filmy music.

“My funda is to put in all the effort in work, come up with good music, and then it is an universal fact that money always follows fame,” says this soft spoken lad who holds a M.A. Degree in Music vocal with distinction from Punjab University Chandigarh.

This versatile singer can sing wide range of songs from classical based to non classical, pop to religious, with perfection of nodes and rhythm. He is gifted with modulating his voice according to the feeling of songs, can perform on stage with equal amount of perfection with having great entertaining skills.  His performances are energetic , versatile and addictive.

UVIE emotionally mentioned, “I dedicate my professional success to my Guru – Professor Harvinder Singh, who is now the Head of Department in Government College for Women in Chandigarh. Whatever I am, it is with his blessings. Of course my parents are the backbone.”

“Talking about Filmy music, my career started with ‘Happening’ song in Main aur Mrs Khanna. Then there was Chipka Le Saiya Fevicol se which went on to be rage of the nation, however my efforts went unnoticed.”

About his break in Bollywood, he says, “When I came to Mumbai, a friend of mine directed me to meet Sajid-Wajid. I went to meet the duo at their recording studio, where Wajidbhai immediately took a fancy towards my voice. He told me to join them as an assistant and said as and when the opportunity arises, they would certainly give me a break.”

“Another milestone is my Aa Bhi Ja – the album which was released some four years back, which I consider as a stepping stone in Bollywood. Aa Bhi Jaa is a romantic-classical track. I can say that it is the best of my work in Fusion where Indian Classical is joined / merjed with Western music,” he adds.

Since his school days, this lad desired to be a singer, and hence after his graduation, he has completed a 2 years course of M.A. in Vocal Music. Though he comes from a Defence background, where his dad wanted him to pursue a career in armed forces, but realizing that his son has his mind in music, he wasn’t forced much – as this smart kid made his dad realize that he would serve my country with my voice.

Uvie has also rendered his voice for the title track of Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, then a song with Hariharan for Shararat (Abhishek Bachchan).

He has also done scores of Jingles, and then for Television where O Rabba for the serial Veera was an astounding success which impressed the producers so much that they incorporated several songs in the serial, for which I was the numero uno choice.

On enquiring about what is his uniqueness? UVIE says, “I have a good romantic voice and am looking for a breakthrough classically based romantic song. My favourite singer is Sonu Nigam who is really great in his album ‘Deewana” and my best song is Pritam’s number in Jannat 2 – Jo Khwabon Khayalo mein…”

“I never feel that I have completed my training. For me it is a never ending process. I practice my classical music daily for 1 and half to 2 hours. Riyaaz. I believe in putting in honest efforts in my work. I really work hard. I am thrilled that Jawaani is so well received. I still want to do good romantic numbers,” says this youngster who has done a song for 3Dev an upcoming film and in the process are songs for 3 to 4 movies by new music directors.

“Hoping that 2016 would bring in more applauds and appreciation for my work,” concludes UVIE.
