Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai Movie Review: Romantic

This film comes from the house of Shakti Samanta which made some memorable romantic films like Aradhana, Kati Patang, Amar Prem, Kashmir Ki Kali and others.

In this jet age with fast-changing times, with plenty of realistic films released, we have this entertainer woven around old Indian traditional values. There is a dialogue in the film – ‘Hansi Aati Hai Ki Aajkal Ke Zamaane Mein Aapke Jaise Log Bhi Hai’ – says it all.
It is the typical story of 70s and 80s where we have two warring families, with their kids falling in love and then the predicament that is bound to be there around.

Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai is a dramatic love story of two young people who are caught between love for each other and the generations old enmity between their respective Rajput families.

Heads of the unhappy families are played by Mohnish Behl and Mukesh Tiwari while the respective kids are Aditya Samanta and Nazia Hassan (she made her debut in Bollywood with Say Yes to Love – remember?).

The film begins with the birth of Karishma (Nazia Hassan) to the wealthy family of Rathores, and Karan (Aditya Samanta) on the same day in the same hospital. Karan’s parents are the affluent Choudharys (Mohnish Bahl and Rati Agnihotri).

23 years later, unknown of their family backgrounds, they meet each other one summer at Krakow University Poland and fall in love.

When Karan finds out her family background, he starts avoiding Karishma. What happens thereafter is a succession of interesting events that you would get to see in this musical extravaganza

There are quite a few exotic foreign locales where love blossoms between the young pair, with Aditya Samanta who is making a debut in this film produced by his home banner.
next door, a much better polished act would have helped.

Nazia Hassan is cute and looks more comfortable as compared to the boy.

This satire does have some heavy moments centered between Mohnish Behl and Mukesh Tiwari who enact some high decibel drama on the screen.

Music rendered by Anu Malik falls below expectation, and the only positive in this film is filming on the exotic locales of Poland in the first half and Udaipur later on.

This film directed by Shree Narayan Singh lacks excitement.
