Passengers - Movie review
There have been a spate of sci-fi movies and more so lately, but this is an absolute novel idea of space travel and romance. Largely a three character space odessey, it plays out the feelings between the main protagonists under various circumstances. This one is really different from other space fantasies in its form, storyline and characterization. There are no final frontiers to explore, no alien beings, no worp speed ships (i.e. super light speed, this ship travels @ a measely 50% of light speed) and no chrome plated fancy weapons, a simple tale mounted on a what if situation which is plausible in a not so distant future. Passengers is about a magificient space ship Avalon which is carrying a crew of 258 and 5000 passengers from different walks of life and different skillsets with a promise of a new beginning and bright future. Assassins Creed movie review
Assassins Creed is a very popular video game which the legions of true gamers will vouch for the thrills they got playing it. Therefore it was but natural that it be turned into a big movie franchise, the idea though exciting left a lot to be desired from this movie enterprise which already holds a brand equity amongst the young. The basic premise is about the Apple of Eden which has been lost for five centuries and is the cuss point between the secret societies of The Templars and the highly trained, combative and sworn to their lives, the Assassin Creed. Vidya Sinha (Vidya Balan) is a single mom, working woman happily living with her daughter in Chandannagar a small town in West Bengal. Her teenaged daughter is wheelchair ridden hence the mother keeps a nurse while she is out in her office. This morning, the mother-daughter wake up late, so while rushing around with her morning chores, Vidya realizes that the nurse hasn't come for her duty. This caring mother ensures that her old neighbour keeps a periodic watch on her house till the time nurse arrives to keep her daughter some company. Shivaay movie review
A story of an extraordinary man in an extra ordinary circumstance where he has to break the law to save his daughter in a foreign land. A Himalayan mountaineer, Shivaay (Ajay Devgn) is an innocent everyman, who is capable of transforming into a mean destroyer when he needs to protect his family. In the opening sequence, the Himalayan mountaineer, Shivaay is shown rapelling down a steep and dangerous cliff in the Himalayas. In an edge of the seat stunt he is watched by the Indian armed forces and manages to reach them to hand over the information they needed. In return the Indian army people pay him in cash. Somewhat unbelievable! That apart, Shivaay who makes a living by providing treks and climbing expeditions to tourists, lives alone in a small house in the mountains.
