Hari Puttar, movie review
"He is only a kid..." is something that is heard ever too often. But when a kid displays the valour and wit that is no child's play and the presence of mind that belies his age, it certainly is no kidding matter. Hari Puttar is the awe-inspiring story of one such kid. Hari Prasad Dhoonda (Zain Khan) of Hari Puttar, as he is fondly called, is a bright 10 year old who has recently moved from India to the U.K. with his parents (Sarika and Zakir Khan). His father, Prof. Dhoonda is assigned to work on a secret project with the Defence forces at a remote location in the U.K. He has access to confidential information that is stores on a chip and safely kept at his house. Mere Baap Pehle Aap, movie review
Comedy specialist director Priyadarshan has come out with another not so great comedy story about a widowed father and his authoritarian son - Mere Baap Pehle Aap. The director who has produced good comedies like Hera-Pheri and Malamaal Weekly comes up with just an average entertainer. Anyway, good performances and the dialogues add fizz to the story. It is the story of an authoritarian son (Akshaye Khanna) who bosses his long-widowed father (Paresh Rawal) about living away the remaining years of his life like a decent old gentleman. But the father, well under the influence of his lusty old friend (Om Puri), is inspired to relive his youth again and marry his childhood sweetheart (Shobhana). Hastey Hastey, movie review
The director’s attempt to make Hastey Hastey a youthful, musical, romantic comedy with a twist in the tale, has met with lukewarm response. We also have the three Rajpal Yadavs who “tries” to be funny but audience is not amused with this guy who keeps saying "dude" and starts running after every white-skinned girl. The film Hastey Hastey is about Neel (Jimmy Sheirgill), a brilliant student at Columbia University and the pretty Maya Fernandez (Nisha Rawal) the love of his life, are on the verge of starting a new life together in New York. Sunny Malhotra (Rajpal Yadav) is Neel's roommate, teammate and conscience. Academically challenged and a compulsive flirt, he gets involved in a series of hilarious situations with his American love Tina (Sarah Thomas). Dhoom Dadakka, movie review
Dhoom Dadakka is about Mungilal (Anupam Kher) losing his standing as the top don of Mumbai at the All Asia Mafia Meet since he doesn't have an heir. This opens up the field for Mungilal's arch nemesis Fursat Lala (Gulshan Grover) and his son, Zac who meets the decided requirement of the bhais of All Asia Mafia Meeting. Way back in the 1970s, Mungilal was once a small time Bhai in Mumbai. Jignesh (Satish Shah) was his friend cum business advisor. That time the law-enforcing authorities turned the heat on crime, corruption and the Bhais in Mumbai, so these two fled to Bangkok. Established himself in Bangkok, Mungilal has become a don of Mumbai. Don Muthuswami, movie review
Ashim Samanta, marks his directorial debut with the film Don Muthuswami. The movie is funny at times and Mithun Chakraborty carries the film on his shoulders with his experience and seasoned understanding. Muthuswami (Mithun Chakraborty) comes to pay his last respects to his father who is on the deathbed. The father slaps Muthu and tells him that he has brought shame to the family by being a gangster and that he would die an unhappy man. The Don promises his father that he would give up his crooked ways and turn into a honest man, if that would keep him at peace. So begins the transformation from Don Muthuswami to Sir Muthuswami. Muthu the Don Muthuswami, orders his henchmen to continue working for him as domestic help instead of being gangsters. He engages a Hindi teacher Jaikishan (Mohit Raina) to improve his language. Mr White Mr Black
Three cool women led by the go-getter Sandhya Mridul, Australian beauty Tania Zaetta and Miss Thailand Kamala Ning, highjack a truck which carries some diamonds and succeed in carrying off a complex diamond heist, in the process they kill the guards and the police escort. A well done action sequence in Mr White Mr Black, though appear to be "inspired" by the stunts of Matrix. This is the opening sequence in the film and the most impressive too. Suffering a heart-attack one morning, on his birthday, Joymohan (Anupam Kher) a professor in Kolkata, realizes that he needs to spend more time with his family. Krazzy 4, movie review
Jaideep Sen's directorial debut, which is produced by Rakesh Roshan is about four madmen having peculiar personalities, being taken out for a change, finally involved in a kidnapping plot. As projected in it promos, it was supposed to have "humor in abundance" in the film Krazzy 4, unfortunately it barely has any genuine funny situations. Krazzy 4 is the story of four mental patients - Raja (Arshad Warsi) who is temperamental, Daboo (Suresh Menon) who can't speak, Mukherjee (Irrfan Khan) is a cleanliness freak with a compulsive disorder for neatness. Gangadhar (Rajpal Yadav) who thinks that he still lives in a bygone era of the pre-independence days. The pretty doctor - Sonali (Juhi Chawla) believes in treating her patients with love and understanding.
