Drishyam: The Conclusion – movie review

After two immensely successful films built on deception, intelligence and nerve-wracking suspense, Drishyam: The Conclusion arrives with a difficult challenge: how do you keep audiences invested in a story they think they already know? Surprisingly, director Abhishek Pathak not only meets that challenge but delivers a film that many viewers may find even more engaging than its predecessors. Unlike a routine sequel content with recycling old tricks, Drishyam: The Conclusion brings a fresh narrative packed with twists, turns, and courtroom confrontations that keep the mystery alive till the very end. The film proves that the franchise still has enough fuel left in its tank to surprise even its most loyal followers.

Writing Takes Centre Stage

The biggest strength of Drishyam: The Conclusion is undoubtedly its writing. While the basic premise remains rooted in the world audienc ....

Bhooth Bangla – movie review

It’s disheartening to see this from Priyadarshan—the mastermind behind comic capers like Hera Pheri, Hungama, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Watching a veteran like Paresh Rawal reduced to repeating a crude gag about his "rear being on fire" is genuinely pathetic, especially when the film Bhooth Bangla takes the joke literally. It’s a total waste of a powerhouse cast, leaving talents like Akshay Kumar, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani with absolutely nothing to work with. Though Bhoot Bangla starts with a light touch, the narrative takes an agonizingly long time to find its footing, ultimately failing to deliver on its promise. The much-anticipated comedy between Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav feels surprisingly out of sync, lacking the sharp timing that once made them a legendary duo. The story introduces us to Arjun Acharya (Akshay Kumar), a man in his late 30s struggling to keep his head abo ....

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha – movie review

We are reviewing this Ajay Devgn Tabu starrer 'Auron mein kahan dam tha' which is about a couple's love story that ranges 23 years from 2000 to 2023. After watching the entire film, any mature viewer would have felt that the apt title should have been - Audience mein Kahan Dimag tha??!! This flick starring Ajay Devgan and Tabu with Jimmy Shergill in tow, and I wonder what made Jimmy to sign it? The movie is an old tale of Bollywood movies of 70s and 80s, that is about a young loverboy (Shantanu Maheshwari who plays the character of young Ajay Devgn) killing people to save the honour of his beloved (Saiee Manjrekar playing the young character of Tabu) thus going to jail and scarifying his whole life. Music of Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Tabu starrer Crew hits a high

April 6, 2024 Editorial

It is the first time that an Indian film featuring 3 top heroines has fetched such an acclaim for the powerhouse performers Kareena Kapoor, Tabu and Kriti Sanon. Not only this, Crew has taken the box office by storm, surpassing expectations and setting a new milestone as the largest worldwide opening for an Indian movie led by women. But it…

At the outset, let me warn you that this film is man adaptation of the Karthi starrer Kaithi. Right from the first frame till the last, the film abounds with excessive violence and gory scenes. Bholaa (Ajay Devgn), an absentee father waiting to unite with his daughter, is the protagonist, a man of very few words, who shows all his angst and pain through his eyes, in the film.Bholaa channels his inner rudra avatar to fight like a fearless warrior and battles a horde of gangs, right from bike-driving baddies to well-greased, kachcha-sporting villains, to remove all the obstacles that come in the way of him meeting his daughter. Bholaa, who is released from then prison after 10 years, is desperately waiting to meet his daughter for the first time, but IPS officer Diana Joseph (Tabu) leaves him with no choice but to help her in a high-pressure situation that involves the drug mafia, the c ....

De De Pyaar De – movie review

Sometimes the new age ideals, sometimes the age old Indian tradition. This is what De De Pyaar De shuttles all through its 135 minutes running time. The writer wants to keep the new generation happy with his ideas of the father readily accepting his daughter's view to have a live-in relationship before her marriage. TALVAR – Hindi movie review

Irrfan Khan's performance, Meghna Gulzar's direction and above all, its story and crisp screenplay by Vishal Bharadwaj makes Talvar a must watch film. Talvar explores the socio-economic divides in urban India: the affluent doctor-couple, the Uttar Pradesh policemen with their regressive mindsets and rough methods of investigation, and the migrants engaged in lowly jobs. And the procedural protocol that exists in the Police System. A high profile double murder case in 2008 in Noida, India where a 14-year old Aarushi Talwar was found murdered at her home. The suspicion pointed out to the 45 year old servant who was missing from the house. The next day his dead body was discovered in another part of the building. Now the police suspected that teenage girl's parents had murdered her with the theory that the father must have murdered the two after finding them in an 'objectionable' positio ....
