Some web series can be addictive, like Sacred Games for instance where we waited for the season two to live through the shenanigans of Gaitonde and Sartaj Singh. Same can be said for this widely popular series Mirzapur Season 2, the action-crime-thriller Web series offering on Amazon Prime with the season two releasing on 23rd October 2020, for which we have waited for almost two years.
Giving us a peek in the lives and rivalry between Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal). The audience that the serial created for itself was eagerly expectant to lap up whatever would have been dished out to them. There is one thing though which everyone will agree that it was worth the wait.
Mirzapur Season 2 gives us the same thrills and joy if not more, as what one got in the first outing, you cannot but have enough of it and sure to binge watch it in one go to get to the conclusion as to who will be the ultimate ruler of Mirzapur.
The best part is, the Season 2 has also been kept open-ended in such a way that we can expect Season 3 too, yeh dil maange more for all those greedy ones. The only issue with such series is that it does take a long time in conceptualization and production but is over much before the day end in one ferver of binge watch, leaving you craving for more.
The episodes actually draw you into the lives of the characters, for the period you are viewing it you are concerned with their lives and well-being, sometimes it is difficult to decide on whose’s side you are on, the protagonists or the others, usually all characters are endearing and important in their own rights.
Mirzapur Season 2 starts from where the season one ended where Munna (Dibyendu Sharma) in an attempt to clean-up his rivals Guddu and Bablu perpetrates gore and mayhem in Lala’s daughter’s wedding. Many new and interesting characters have been added, some old ones who had fallen on the wayside in season one have been reintroduced. Beena bhabhi (Rasika Duggal), Golu (Shweta Tripathi) and Maqbool (Shaji Chaudhary) have been given meatier roles in this season coming into their own.
Though the gore continues with a fair sprinkling of cuss words every once in a while. Some new characters have been added which takes the story forward and also makes it more broad-based, not being too indulgent with the top two protagonists and provides layers to the narrative.
Politics also takes a centrestage in this season as compared to the last one where it was shown in the background. Production values have not been compromised, rather have only been enhanced. Sex and perversions are also talked about but thankfully no over the top show. Lot of gun-totting, but the climax is really shot on a grand scale with three parties going for each other’s throats. Leaving way open for a new season. With that thought we will leave you. Keep waiting….
