Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the heartwarming flick Let’s Meet is a story about the generations that shape Google with their contributions to knowledge—Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Y. In fact, it is a story about us. In a world where connections are made with just a tap on a screen, two strangers from completely different lives are brought together by fate.
‘Let’s Meet’ explores this challenge through the story of Nikhil, an aspiring actor whose unlucky streak in love is only worsened by the isolating restrictions of the pandemic. Nikhil, (Tanuj Virwani) a confident and outgoing TV actor, is known for his charm and love of attention. Priya, (Suman Rana) in contrast, is a quiet, private young girl who cherishes her peaceful life and extremely small circle of friends.
Hoping to help Priya step out of her comfort zone, her friends persuade her to join social media and thus meet new people. Reluctantly, she creates an anonymous profile with no pictures or personal details. One day, she receives a friend request from Nikhil—a spontaneous gesture from a man who knows absolutely nothing about her.
What begins as light online conversations soon blossoms into a deep emotional connection. Nikhil falls for Priya without ever seeing her face. As their bond grows stronger with every message, they face a critical question: Can a relationship that starts online survive the complexities of the real world and whether fate will bring them together in person.
The premise is instantly relatable, highlighting the contrast between two individuals, one eager to embrace love and the other hesitant to let her guard down. To put it in a nutshell, “Let’s Meet” is a heartwarming and relatable tale of chance encounters, personal growth, and discovering love in the most unexpected ways.
Though the film does have its own flaws, at the same time, it serves as a poignant reminder of the complex, uncertain times that we lived through and how human relationships were tested in quite a few unimaginable ways during the pandemic.
As far as performances are concerned, all that I can say is that Tanuj Virwani excels in his realistic portrayal of a man who is doomed to oscillate between hope and exasperation while Suman Rana is not only pleasant to look at, but also makes you easy to root for her, with her nervousness.
