Of Love and Passion

Krispy Rishtey movie review

Karan (Jagat Singh) gives in to his father’s wishes, breaking up with his childhood crush Natasha (Manmeet Kaur) and gets married to Anjali (Diljott) who is a traditional Indian family cultured girl who is committed to her husband. Yet Karan isn’t attached to her and continues his lovey-dovey rendezvous with his childhood crush Natasha, a wild romantic girl. That’s Krispy Rishtey for you.

Things get complicated and messy when Vinod (Ronit Kapill) an old admirer of Anjali comes back into her life to pacify the homely girl and this results into a complex love quadrangle.

Commitment to marriage, relationships, trust and sacrifice form the core of this breezy love story which positions itself in a bit different league in comparison to zillions of love stories in Bollywood.

Taking back one’s memories of 90s when films used to have 10-15 songs, Krispy Rishtey is laden with 15 songs with almost all of them woven in the story narrative majority of them running in background.

The story picks up after a while and travels through the picturesque and lush green locales of Rajasthan which is a sure pleasure to the eyes with such beautiful roads and scenery around the state.

Jagat Singh takes the show with his performance and is equally matched by Manmeet Kaur and Diljott convincingly portraying the contrasting sides of females.

With a silly beginning the story gains momentum with ups and down. Anjali and Natasha’s characters are well etched out, while that of Vinod appears over-written, Brijendra Kala gets an undercooked character, Kabir and the Narrator’s character lack the intensity.

Except for a couple of songs, rest of the songs blend with the pace of it’s narration and it is nice to hear Shreya Ghoshal, Papon, Zubin Nautiyal, Richa Sharma, Nakash Aziz, Sabri Brothers, Mohit Chauhan and KKK all in one album.
