Karle Pyaar Karle – Film Review

They love to dare........ But will they dare to love?

Karle Pyaar Karle

An adrenaline gushing, action packed, edgy love story of two rebels, Kabir & Preet, playing the game of life.

This contemporary romantic film is produced by Suneel Darshan and introduces his son Shiv Darshan opposite Miss India Earth 2011 winner Hasleen Kaur. No efforts are spared to display lavishness in the locales shown in the film. Its shot on scenic locations in Lavasa in Maharashtra, Mumbai, Dubai and Thailand.

It is the story of Kabir (Shiv Darshan) and Preet (Hasleen Kaur). Both are sort of rebels in their own way. The unstable environment within their homes manifests into their daring attitude towards life.

Right from their childhood Kabir and Preet indulged in playing borderline dangerous games trying to defy the fear and complexes within. In a desperate moment, eight year old Kabir indulged in an act that lead him to the doors of a juvenile home.

In a bid to protect Kabir, his mother decided to leave town to escape the harsh punishment. After traveling from one city to another for 12 years, the family returns to their home town where Kabir and Preet reconnect beginning a mad chapter of dares, games and fun.

The film is a journey of their unbridled games as they discover themselves and the essence of romance.

Problems rear up as though it was their destiny. Preet started believing that they are ill fated and it’s best they should stay away. Kabir firmly believed that only if they are together, will they survive. Preet willingly tore herself apart from Kabir leading them to a point of no return.

Being a film targeted to the youth, one would have anticipated innovative style of story telling and expect something new. Unfortunately it isn’t so in this film.

Rather, we get to see is the entry of the hero in a typical South Indian filmy style.

Imagine a twenty something guy riding motorbike, hopping flyovers, and then taking a leap from outside the stadium and landing on the centre of the field. Are we watching a super-hero flick?

Then we are shown the girl Preet blackening a politician’s face and enjoying her stay in the detention room of a Police Station. Has she come for a picnic there? And then, it is the same girl whose boyfriend is the mafia sort of boss in her college. Carrying bagloads of cash in his car.

How could such a person fight against the corrupt netas?

The girl’s boyfriend runs an open fight club in the college campus. And it’s a free for all open bouts where blood is splattered all around, glass windows of the cars are freely smashed, and then the principal just lets them go off.

Supposedly marketed as a Romantic Thriller, the story leads to nowhere reaching its midway. Except for a few hummable songs and colorfully depicted dance sequences, there isn’t anything new in the story.

For their launch venture, Shiv and Hasleen deserved something much better. For their first film, both are above average in their performances. Shiv reminds one of the initial years of Sanjay Dutt, and Hasleen is cute, tall and glamorous. Rest of the cast, there is nothing to mention about them.
