Taut & Gripping!

Hit 3 movie review

If you are a fan of suspense and thriller genres, ‘HIT: The Third Case’ – HIT 3 is not only taut and gripping but this PAN India thriller is also tailor-made for you. The film revolves around SP Arjun Sarkaar, a top police officer of the Telangana state’s Homicide Intervention Team (HIT) officer is sent to Jammu and Kashmir to investigate a series of brutal murders by serial killers.

The story is expected to be made to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with its intense and unpredictable twists. The trailer and teasers of HIT 3 revealed a dark, gripping storyline that delves deep into the psychological and physical challenges faced by the protagonist.

Yes. This time, Arjun Sarkaar (Nani) replaces the level-headed Krishna Dev (Adivi Sesh) as SP of the fictional Homicide Intervention Team’s Visakhapatnam unit. His brutal reputation precedes him, and while he may appear to the outside world as a cop with a criminal streak, the film slowly peels back his layers.

Nani takes on a darker, more intense role as Arjun Sarkaar after ‘Saripodhaa Sanivaaram’ for which he received huge acclaim. The film’s shooting in Kashmir as well as the dense jungles of Arunachal Pradesh adds to the stunning and atmospheric backdrop of the story, enhancing the film’s mood and tension. The challenging terrains of Jammu and Kashmir provide a perfect setting for the high-stakes investigation.

The franchise focuses on realistic crime-solving and character-driven storytelling. The franchise has built a strong reputation for delivering tightly woven investigative thrillers with compelling characters and gripping plots. The series has consistently impressed audiences and critics alike.

In this sequel HIT 3, director Sailesh Kolanu leans into fan service, casting Nani — for a long time embraced by family audiences — in a darker, bloodier setup. The film carries an ‘A’ certificate, and Nani sheds his man-next-door image to become a ruthless as well as shrewd and practical cop whose methods, unsurprisingly, come under scrutiny. Samuthirakkani has been wasted as Nani’s father while Srinidhi Shetty impresses as Nani’s colleague and lady cop Mridula. Prateik Babbar struggles as the antagonist and there’s also a wee bit of melodrama in his performance.

The narrative spans a wide range of territories like Kashmir, Arwal in Bihar, Jaipur and Arunachal Pradesh — though the crimes could easily have occurred within the Telugu States. The best thing about the otherwise extremely violent film is that the film successfully marries crime thriller elements with full-throttle action to offer a gripping cinematic experience. Running time 157 minutes.
