Meerabai Not Out, movie review
Meerabai Not Out is about cricket, the game We love. India loves the game! Cricket is the reason for our very existence. Cricketers are our Gods - our triumphant boys in blue. The film marks Kumble's big screen debut alongside commentator Charu Sharma, who makes a special appearance. Meerabai Not Out review... Meera Achrekar, a mathematics teacher at Vishwaprem Vidyalaya, has been happy and single for quite a while now. The great love of her life has been and will always remain - cricket and Anil Kumble (India’s famous leg spinner). The meticulous number cruncher is, despite not being the classic eye-candy-teenage- fantasy- fodder, a huge hit in class. And that's because Meera, unlike most teachers at her school, is more fanatical about her religion - cricket, than even the school cricket captain! Living with her family in their small home in a Mumbai chawl, Meera was init ....

Hulla, movie review
This energetic bittersweet comedy, more accurately perhaps - drama with a sense of humour, Hulla turns a contemporary eye on something that is taken too much for granted in Indian cities, especially Mumbai – private space. It’s about the clash between a stockbroker who is not allowed to sleep at night and a small-time trader who won’t let him (as the secretary of the building society they live in). This seemingly trivial, even laughable, problem eventually snowballs into disasters for both of them and their families, while unspooling the attitudes of people around them. Raj and Abha, a couple in their early-thirties, move into their new 2-bedroom flat in a Mumbai suburb. They are both very happy as only new home-owners can be in Mumbai. Since the flat is in a residential complex away from the bustle of the city and the main road, they both expect peace and quiet. Raj (Sushant ....

Welcome to Sajjanpur, movie review
Set in a fictitious Indian village Welcome to Sajjanpur tells the humble story of the inhabitants of that village. The central character is Mahadev, one of the few educated young men from Sajjanpur. His ambition is to be a novelist, but finds it easier to make a living by writing letters sitting next to the Post Office. His ability to write persuasive letters makes him popular with the largely non-literate population of the town. Aware of this power, he soon uses his talent to manipulate people with amusing and sometimes not such amusing results. With this as the narrative frame, Welcome to Sajjanpur shows in an entertaining musical and comic way, characters and events that are at once hilarious and poignant. A delightful satirical take on a contemporary Indian village. Mahadev (Shreyas Talpade) is a young graduate from Sajjanpur village who lives with his widowed mother. She has a ....
