Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 movie review
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 released on 2nd of November is a of the franchise genre started with Akshay Kumar with one ghost then in the second movie with Kartik Aryan taking over the reins we where presented with possibility of a dual ghost scenario and now in the third one we have to juggle with a triple ghost scenario, my God! What a waste of ghosts or is it only one ghost and we see three. The movie is supposed to be a ghost comedy which we are supposed to enjoy but it appears the comedy is on us. The three cartoon characters from previous movie the chota pandit, the bada pandit and the lady pandit are repeated for no reason at all. The first film with Akshay Kumar was an intellectual cult film directed by Priyadarshan. The team of the second and third franchise have hit the bedrock. Kartik Aryan has been acting in films which have no meaning at all, very.. very disappointing. How come V ....

Stree 2 movie review
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film Stree, released in 2018, a horror-comedy that was loved by the audience, was set in the town of Chanderi where a spirit kidnaps men. Stree 2, the sequel, however, takes the story ahead and starts from the same point where the first film ended. This time, however, the locals living in Chanderi team up with the mysterious character, played by Shraddha Kapoor, as they confront another ghost known as ‘Sarkata’. Sarkata has the ability to take out its head and wander around, abducting girls who are ‘modern’ or ‘liberated’ in any manner. There is a back-story, connected with Stree. Janaa (Abhishek Banerjee), Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana) and town librarian Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi) return to confront the ghost. Roohi (2021) movie review
Every once in a while there comes along a movie which is projected to be a much awaited movie but it turns out to be a damp squib. This movie Roohi that is now streaming on Netflix was theatrically released on 11 March 2021. Due to the Pandemic situation, only those films releasing on OTT platforms are being reviewed. Roohi appears to be starting off from where we left off in Stree with Rajkumar Rao again donning a role of a village bumpkin who reports for a fraud type newspaper called something like Jazirabad Jaljala which does'nt even make a wave leave alone a jaljala which means tsunami. Rao is paired with a bumchum in the name of Atthanni or is it Katanni played by an irritating and over the top hamming Varun Sharma, such a waste of his so called acting talents. Durgamati hindi movie review
Durgamati is a remake of Bhaagamathie the Telugu flick of 2018, directed by G Ashok who has also helmed the baton for this hindi version. The original was a big success in South and therefore to cash in on that success this movie was remade in Hindi by Akshay Kumar's company Cape of Good Films and produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. Every once in a while we like to see a story which is different from the run-of-the-mill corruption scandal stories as seen on the silver screen. As the saying goes in Bollywood you make something a bit 'hatke' from other movies. Here is an example of 'hatke' as corruption is shown in the garb of horror. Initially when the movie starts it looks like all the characters are play acting, nothing seemed to be right and in its place it all looks very superficial and unconvincing. Laxmii (2020) movie review
This movie was awaited for sometime because people wanted to see Akshay Kumar's daring transgender look in a saree. Laxmii released on OTT platform of Disney Hotstar on the 9th of November 2020. There were some fantastic promos, great posters, super trailers. All of which pointed to an entertaining masala horror movie with good dose of comedy put in to make it a universally watchable. There was also the controversy about its name which was then changed just before release from Laxxmi Bomb to Laxmii. All this was a sure shot formula for success at the hustings. No such luck though as the film Laxmii turned out to be a damp squib. A bomb that never went off. A good horror movie is a rarity in our country that churns out the largest number of films every year (you will see very few in our list too). Almost none of them measure upto the quality which come out of Hollywood, barring a few, specially those made before the turn of the century. Raat - revisited... In the previous century horror movies were a forte of the Ramsay brothers, but none of their movies except for maybe a Darwaza or a Hotel were somewhat out there but most of the films only evoked laughter rather than any sense of terror, specially in current times with an improvement in filmmaking, because of the superficial makeup and the movement of the so-called ghost or the beast or whatever you my call them. Continuing the tradition for mystery thrillers and whodunit genre after ‘Bees Saal Baad’ there were a spate of such films; all quite well made and having some story and substance too like, ‘Gumnaam’, ‘Teesri Manzil’ etc. with a notable film Woh Kaun Thi?
