Bombay Velvet, Hindi movie review
A period drama of the 60s, a visual treat of Bombay of that era, Bombay Velvet is created with artistic grandeur, has been let down by a confusing plot. Anurag Kashyap has to be applauded for lavishly recreating Bombay of the 60s. This is where it ends as the film has neither the entertainment factor or the chilly seriousness of a mafia ruling the politics and maneuvering the city plans for its benefits. Anushka Sharma is the cute fashionable jazz singer Rosie who sparkles in embellished body-fitting gowns. Bombay Velvet revolves around the story of how Bombay transformed its landscape during the 60s and 70s and the corrupt administration, which is hand in glove with the mill owners and the rich. This apart, the story is woven around the backdrop of Ranbir-Anushka romance. Ranbir Kapoor's character is used by people around him, including his mother. A small time hood, with a ....

Ishq Ke Parindey
Love knows no boundaries. A voice over at the opening states that if the partition hadn't taken place, it would be a Gulistan, instead of Hindustan and Pakistan. This is the message of Ishq Ke Parindey, a poetic and realistic love story of a boy and a girl across the border. Saare Jahan Se Achchha Hindustan Hamara, Hum Bulbule Hain Iski Ye Gulsitan Hamara When Allama Iqbal wrote the above couplet he never knew that the seeds sown by the British would lead to the creation of India and Pakistan. The land nurtured by the romantic poetry of Ghalib became a battleground. Friends for generations were separated forever inthe name of partition. Humanity was buried under hatred. Badlapur - Hindi movie review
A dark thriller with its unique story telling approach gathering momentum with its pace, BADLAPUR has its magnificent camera work and superlative performances from Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Huma Qureshi. Yet another spine-chiller from Sriram Raghavan who earlier made a notable revenge drama - Ek Hasina Thi (2004) and an out-and-out thriller - Johnny Gaddaar (2007). Badlapur doesn't preach, has no message, it is just a plain thriller which has an unpredictable ending. Raghu's (Varun Dhawan) turns upside down when his wife Misha (Yami Gautam) and son Robin are shot dead (un-intentionally) by the thieves during a bank heist and who ultimately escape. One of them Liak (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is apprehended by the police, but doesn't reveal the identity of his fellow mate, mentioning that it was the other person who shot the innocent at the bank. ROY - Hindi movie review
The subject is abstract and more so is the story telling of ROY. This film is not for the masses, its for the pseudo-intellectuals, to be precise. Debutant director Vikramjit Singh who is also the writer of this romantic thriller is innovative in his presentation of life and times of a successful yet quirky filmmaker. A different approach in showing on screen, the moods, senses, sensitive moments and the dreams of a director while he is working on the story simultaneously directing the film. We get a visual treat of colours, the locales, the actual depiction of thought process of a filmmaker, most often dubbed as arrogant and abnormal. About the story, ROY is the creative portrayal of the sketch of a filmmaker who works on his own terms. Kabir Grewal (Arjun Rampal) is a trend-setter film maker who has made 'Guns' and 'Guns II', which is the story of the protagonist in his films, an ....
