Batman comes to India – The Dark Knight Rises
Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ – The Dark Knight Rises is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The Dark Knight Rises picks up eight years after the events depicted in The Dark Knight, after Bruce Wayne has saved Gotham but lost both his identity as a force for good and the woman who was closest to him in the bargain. Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar® winner Christian Bale (Batman) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar® winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox.The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.
In helming the film, Christopher Nolan is utilizing IMAX® cameras even more extensively than he did on “The Dark Knight,” which had marked the first time ever that a major feature film was partially shot with IMAX cameras.
The Dark Knight Rises team has shot a key sequence in Mehrangarh, Jodhpur. 10th July 2012: Early on in the production for the latest in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy, the team touched down in a remote expanse near Mehrangarh, Jodhpur. The forbidding landscape added to the desolation needed for a prison scene. Incidentally the first leg of shooting of The Dark Knight Rises started from India.
“The locals thought we were nuts”, says Christian Bale who plays Batman in the film. “We were out in 120-degree heat. I thought it was a great induction by fire into the whole thing. It was nice to mix it up and go to different places. It makes it an adventure.”
Emma Thomas, the film’s producer says,” We wanted a sequence that needed to be in the middle of nowhere, and the place where we shot is beautiful and clearly very remote. We actually went there with a very small crew, and it was an exciting way to start the movie.”
The last of the blockbuster Dark Knight Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale as the Batman, the new terrorist leader Bane is played by Tom Hardy, while Anne Hathaway essays the role of Catwoman. Other cast includes Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman.
