Jugaad, a film based on a real life incident is a hilarious take on the infamous sealing drive by the Municipal Corporation (MCD) that rocked New Delhi in 2007-08. The film is set entirely in Delhi and is shot at actual locations to lend authenticity to the proceedings. The film produced by Bhojpuri filmmaker Kamal Khan, who also plays the lead in Deshdrohi, is about a north Indian migrant’s struggle in Mumbai. Don Muthuswami, movie review
Ashim Samanta, marks his directorial debut with the film Don Muthuswami. The movie is funny at times and Mithun Chakraborty carries the film on his shoulders with his experience and seasoned understanding. Muthuswami (Mithun Chakraborty) comes to pay his last respects to his father who is on the deathbed. The father slaps Muthu and tells him that he has brought shame to the family by being a gangster and that he would die an unhappy man. The Don promises his father that he would give up his crooked ways and turn into a honest man, if that would keep him at peace. So begins the transformation from Don Muthuswami to Sir Muthuswami. It is a period drama set in 1952 in England. Chehere is a story about three women, who are actresses. Tarana (Manisha Koirala) was a superstar of the silent era, is retired from the glam and glitz. Could be her instinctive realisation that she has entered her waning period as a glam-girl in Bollywood, hence she moves away to the U.K. Chehere is a psychological thriller film written and directed by Rohit Kaushik which revolves round the life of this Diva of yester-years. Tarana still leads a high standard of living and she has even called her sister Amanat (played by Divya Dutta), a poetess, to stay with her in a huge mansion in the UK. Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho, film review
A political satire loosely based on a real event in Rajasthan, in which a high court sentenced a boy to jail for allegedly raping a buffalo. Debutant Director Vinod Kapri's film is set somewhere in Haryana instead, and thats the reason that the film has a mix of Hindi and Haryanvi dialogues. The film opens on a colorful beginning, in a rustic 'mela' (village fair) with surprises all around. A pundit claiming to bring a Goddess to life in the form of a young girl sitting on a chair in a static blessing posture. The villagers seem to be convinced. Other attractions include, apart from the stand giant wheels, merry-go-round, a sensuous item song "Naach Basanti" and the a beauty competition of buffaloes.
