Why is the divorce rate high? Coz people get married...

Life Partner, movie review

The story of Life Partner revolves around two young couples and their lawyer friend. When both the married couples face rough times, their lawyer friend who specializes in divorce cases, comes to their help. Life Partner movie review…

Bhavesh Patel’s (Tushaar Kapoor) ideology – ” Dating?…. My marriage will be arranged and I’ll love my wife no matter what…”

Bhavesh is an obedient son, who will never go against his family’s wishes. He staunchly supports monogamy, and has all his romance reserved for his would be wife. His belied – ‘ Marriages are made in heaven and arranged on earth’. The one thing that he is absolutely sure of is the success of his marriage. After all, arranged marriages have had a proven track record in his family..’

Prachi Jadeja (Prachi Desai) is a girl with strength, dignity and poise. A home-maker who cares for the people around her, she will always stand by the commitments she makes and the decisions she takes. Her expectations from a life partner are that he should be supportive, understanding and true to his words.
Bhavesh and Prachi’s marriage has all that it takes for a successful marriage… the parental blessings, a monogamous husband and an ideal wife. But is this enough?

Bhavesh’s somewhat conservative parents stifle Prachi, who is progressive and assertive in nature. He gets caught between his loving wife and doting parents – confused and undecided whom he should side. His family or his wife??

While Karan Malhotra (Fardeen Khan) believes “Love marriage is the perfect bet…”

Karan believes that love marriages are the way to go. After all if you know each and everything about your partner before settling down with her, how could anything go wrong. His lady means the world to him.

Sanjana Jugran (Genelia D’Souza) believes that marriage is just the official union between two people who have already chosen to spend their lives together. Change in marital status doesn’t signify a personality makeover for her. She would rather remain the eternal girl-friend, even after marriage…

Karan and Sanjana are madly in love with each other, and marriage is the logical next step for them. While Karan keeps pursuing the proposal, Sanjana is waiting for the right moment. And this right moment just suddenly materializes at Bhavesh’s wedding in India.

But life after marriage isn’t exactly what either of them had expected it to be. Karan transitions into a husband quite effortlessly, but Sanjana wants to be the carefree ‘party-hard’ girl-friend that she used to be.

Their sizzling chemistry is over and have problems after marriage.

Enter Jeet Oberoi (Govinda) who is a divorce lawyer extraordinaire, who has the knack to separate even two stone statues. The ladies can’t resist his charm or his irreverent wit. He does not believe in spending his life with just his loved one. He believes in spending time with many loved ones. Single women are just not his style, he would rather spend his time “consoling” women he has just helped… to get divorced! After all they need SOMEONE to help them through this emotional phase.

Jeet’s philosophy in life – “Marriage are you nuts?… Do you know why the divorce rate is so high?…
Because people get married…”

Govinda is in terrific form and Fardeen Khan is very likable. Tusshar Kapoor pitches a remarkable performance yet again. He looks so perfect for his part. He is nice. Genelia D’Souza sizzles on the screen and Prachi Desai is realistic as the true Indian wife trying her best to adjust with her in-laws.

Life Partner mildly entertains with its comedy which comes along with preaching the meaning of marriage and its tradition.
