It’s a great time for some Indians film makers now on a making spree of animation movies. We had Hanuman, Return of Hanuman, Bal Ganesh and then My friend Ganesha 2 which were superior as per Indian standards from the point of view of their technical advancement. Cheenti Cheenti Bang Bang movie review…
Cheenti Cheenti Bang Bang is the latest Indian 2 dimensional animation film with some great voice-overs. Anjan Srivastava and Mahesh Manjrekar create enticing characters in the form of the two rival ant kings, and there is Ashish Vidyarthi’s voice which is absolutely engaging as Ghunn, the evil termite who creates mayhem with the two kingdoms for his personal gain.
The 80 minutes long film directed by RD Mallik with Shantanu Pal as animation director works on the premise that ‘war never pays’. It puts forth the point that unity and peace are the driving factors for a nation’s health.
The story of Cheenti Cheenti Bang Bang revolves around two kingdoms of ants the Red ants and the Black ones who are rivals with each other. The film is not a battle story altogether and we have a romantic twist too, as the Prince and Princess of warring Kingdoms fall in love (remember Subhash Ghai’s Saudagar?).
A major showdown erupts when Laal Budda (old ant) is accused of harassing Kalibua, a hand maiden of Kaali Rani. She complains to Kaali Rani, who insists that Kaala Raja behead Laal Budda! Angered by the audacity of the Kaala Raja, Laal Raja wages an attack on his kingdom. To make things worse, Lohit the Laal Prince falls in love with Krishna the Kaala Princess and elopes with her.
The supporters of the Kaala Raja are Mighty Girgit…and the Frog…But some have vested interests. The Laal Raja also has his supporters, including the magical Beyallis Karma.
There is a mediator Ghunn (the termite) who double-crosses the kingdoms of both the ants groups for his personal gains. It takes the wisdom of a wise old spider to make the warring ants to realize their mistake and drive out the scheming third party that wants to make merry at their expense.
The most exemplifying factor would be so-called chameleon in its original colors and a frog that never stops croaking. It is commendable that this non-mythological animation film from India is made using cell-animation (manual) using hand drawn pictures (more than 9 lakh drawings used in the film) which ensure international quality standards.
Some good music has been composed by Jeet and songs written by Nida Fazli are just okay. Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Kunal Ganjawala, Sudesh Bhosle and Ustad Rashid Khan render voice in the songs. On the voices rendered, it is Arsani who steals the show.
Cheenti Cheenti Bang Bang has good entertainment for kids.
