Chal Pichchur Banate Hai- movie review

A passionate journey of a young man from being an MBA to a filmmaker

Chal Pichchur Banate Hain marks the debut of writer and film director Pritish Chakraborty.

Suraj (Rahil Tandon) has everything any young man dream of. A nice family, understanding mother, an MBA degree, a well paid job and an offer from UK with a salary of 5,000 pounds.

However, no one in his family or friend circle shared this dream of his and Suraj was educated to be a MBA. At a crucial juncture of his life, when the UK Visa for Suraj’s overseas job offer arrives, his family and friends want him to tie the knot with his …childhood friend Sudha and migrate to UK with him.

But Suraj is a dreamer. He has a passion – Cinema, and his only dream is to be a film Director.

Given a chance, he chooses passion over money and becomes a rebel. He even shocks his family and friends, when he decides not go get married to the girl with whom he had grown up as a very good friend.

He gives resignation, and starts his career in Bollywood by fixing posters alongside roads. Then he struggles as an assistant director and even here he faces humiliation and rejection from the industry.

Suraj comes across Melrena (Bhavna Ruparel) during one of his shoots. This Melrena is a typical girl next door. She is beautiful, lively and then later on goes to give support to Suraj to fulfill his dream.

It is when Uncle Ramani (Vipul Bhatt) who seemed to be a family friend, but then turned out to be a typical financier, that Suraj realises the importance of money and practicalities of life. He then takes it seriously to pursue his dream.

Ramani also turns out to be Suraj’s reason for working harder, why? The film will tell!

After some ups and down, finally Suraj is picked up by Sadiq Khan (Sandeep Sachdev) – the superstar – actor who yearns for some meaningful role in the industry, which Suraj is capable of directing this maiden venture, which turns out to be a much acclaimed super hit.

There are some reasonably good performances from Smita Hai as Suraj’s doting mother and Denesh Pandey as Suraj’s father. Rahil Tandon is earnest in his performance and is another promising new comer.

This cast has been suitably supported by Irani (Shahnawaz Pradhan) as the biggie in the film industry, Mansoor (Mukesh Bhatt) as the typical bollywood contractor sort of guy who is in charge of hosting banners on highways and roadside for the Bollywood. And there is Shakti (Sheikh Arif), and Suraj’s childhood friend Nikhil (Errol Peter Marks) whose sister was to wed Suraj, Khanna (Punkaj Kalraa) who is a smart film Producer / Director.
