“Art is like meditation for me” says Sanjay Chhel Bollywood director, screenplay – story writer, lyricist and also a self-taught Abstract Artist who hosts his first ever exhibition “MAN & THE MOON- MY ABSTRACT JOURNEY”
Writer- Director of many Bollywood Hits & National Award winner for Children’s film ‘Halo’ says it was painting that helped reintroduced himself to his soul “I have been painting ever since I can remember. I have always been an art lover. I discovered myself through painting. I am absolutely disconnected when I am painting, it is all about my thoughts and imaginations that matter. To salivate my craving for creativity, I chose visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world”
Multi-faceted Sanjay describes his painting as a story, a journey with depth, layers & meaning “These pieces are not just random usage of colors, it unravels a journey, a story. I am writer & a director but painting helps me explore a different expression of art & creativity”
About the process of painting Sanjay candidly says, “Painting is like a therapy to me. For me Painting is the most fulfilling meditative experience. Each stroke gives me a new meaning of life & it helps to interpret existential issues … each time I paint; I meet new ‘Me’ through my own work!”
About Sanjay Chhel- He is writer Director & lyricist of more than 35 films. He has written more than 30 films like Rangeeela, Yes Boss, Daud, Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani, Partner, Dil toh Bachcha hai ji, Indu Sarkar … And written more than 20 Tv serials like Nukkad, Filmy Chaakar, Hitler Didi, Yeh un dino ki baat hai & Saat phero ki hera feri .As a acclaimed director he has written and Directed 4 films including Sanjay Dutt starrer Khoobsurat (1999).
Well known for his feel good clean writing with tinge of Satire, this 1st Art exhibition is a one more facet of his creativity.
