Renowned actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar and cricketer Vinod Kambli launched the tennis cricket match tournament Supremo Trophy Cricket Tournamentorganized by Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Potnis and Maharashtra Transport Minister Advocate Dr Anil Parab. The one of its kind cricket tournament has almost attained international standards and offers grand prizes for the winners.
For the records, Supremo Chashak is the biggest tennis ball tournament in India that is being held from 24 May 2002 till the 28th of May that will be held at the Air India Sports Club Ground, Kalina in Santacurz.
Actor and film director Mahesh Manjrekar remarked, “I have been regularly attending the Supremo Trophy Tournament every year and Sanjay Potnisji’s meticulous arrangement and the organisation is highly commendable. No doubt that due to Corona Pandemic this tournament could not take place for a couple of years, and that is not in our hands. But I am extremely impressed with the arrangements and the prizes being offered to the players will be a motivation and boost their morale.”
Vinod Kambli performed the coconut-breaking ceremony to kick-start the first match of the tournament. “Such a prestigious tournament is a golden opportunity for the players. I remember that Sachin Tendulkar and myself had begun our careers in such a similar tournament,” mentioned Vinod Kambli while conveying his best wishes to the players and urged them to play with passion and enjoy the game without any pressures.
First day of the tournament witnessed an exciting match between Peirameter Vaishnavi (Raigad) versus Shirsat Sports (Ahmednagar) and the second match was played by TWA Dominators (Palghar) v/s Rohit Cricketers (Vasco, Goa).
Supremo Trophy Cricket Tournament that is known for its detail-oriented planning and its strict adherence to rules of the game is being telecast live on YouTube that has raised the standard of this tournament to an international scale. It is known for the participation of best of the teams and grand prizes with the players being felicitated with cash prizes, two wheelers and a car.
