“Rhea Kapoor gave me a complete freedom to explore my musicality,” says the music composer of Veere Di Wedding, Shashwat Sachdev

Sonam Kapoor told me that patience and perseverance are the only things that will take you places and I will never forget her precious advice, says Shashwat Sachdev, the music composer of Veere Di Wedding

Mumbai, 30th May 2018:

After making his debut as a music composer with Anushka Sharma’s period drama, Phillauri, the young and talented musician, Shashwat Sachdev, is back with Veere Di Wedding.

The ace musician from Jaipur returned after a stint in Los Angeles where he worked on international projects. His collaborated with Grammy Award-winning sound engineer Tony Maserati who has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé!

Shashwat landed the film as soon as he returned from LA. He Says, Rhea Kapoor was the first person I met after I moved back to Mumbai from LA. I met her through a producer in Balaji who liked my music and wanted me to associate with Rhea. I played her some of my music on a hot humid and a tired summer evening. Rhea said I’m done for the day but you’re doing music for my film.”

Talking about inspiration, Shashwat said, “Rhea Kapoor has been a major source of inspiration and encouragement for my music in the film. Rhea has a massive history of three great albums that she has produced in past so there was a lot to learn from her experiences and her business knowledge. She never put me in a box and gave me complete freedom to explore my musicality.”

Another inspiration behind the album was to “Own my Desiness’ and yet cease the opportunity to create something modern, contemporary and powerfully electronic.

Talking about Sonam Kapoor’s involvement, Shashwat says, “All the inputs came from Rhea, however, I remember meeting Sonam a couple of years back after I finished making Bass Girade and Pappi. She really liked my work and did not shy away from honestly expressing it. Also, I will never forget the advice she gave me. “patience and perseverance are the only things that will take you places’ she said. Another thing I love about her is her charming humility.

Shashwat Sachdev’s favourite song is Bass Gira De Raja. “It was originally written by me as a thumri in Bheem Palasi and later arranged as a trap song. What I really love about is it is that there is a certain beauty in imperfection. For me, this song truly “Own my Desi” he says.
