Quite popular in Punjab and Haryana this actress has appeared in more than 150 music videos till date that includes few big commercials that of Ola, Patanjali, Bajaj Alliance BSNL print and video ads.
As Monika Ravan is more popular in the Northern belt as she has done many music videos of Punjabi, Haryanvi and a few of them are very popular there, she has been signed by director Ashok Nanda as a lead heroine with Arpan Singh the upcoming Punjabi feature film Ishqbaziyaan which also has Gurpreet Ghuggi playing an important character.
She has appeared in quite a few Bollywood films and it was in 2017 that she appeared as a Dress Designer that caught people’s attention in Toshi Sabri’s music video Arziyan that had music by Shaarib and Toshi. The latest count of this music video is over 2.7 million views.
With her father serving as a Government official, Monika completed her BDS in Rajasthan and she is a qualified Dental Surgeon. “On completing my graduation I took time aside to pursue my passion of dancing and that is when I entered in that circle as a music video artist. I came to Mumbai in 2017. As I was not born with a silver spoon in mouth and began my journey with print shoots for catalogues and subsequently received offers to appear print and video ads,” Monika recollects her early days in Mumbai.
In a couple of years later on she appeared in a title song in Bollywood film One Day – Justice Delivered that was directed by Ashok Nanda and the film featured Esha Gupta and Anupam Kher in pivotal lead characters.
“I am expecting a lot from my appearance as a lead actress in Ishqbaziyaan, the Punjabi film that is 80% complete and hopefully it should be release very soon in the coming years. I have done a video directed by Ashok Nanda, Mehrama which has Arpan Singh opposite me. The video was shot in Himachal Pradesh and it was fun to work with Ashokji,” says the hopeful Monika.
Further mentioning about Mehrama, Monika excitedly mentions about a handful of sarees that she actually enjoyed. “Ashokji reminds me of my mother. He scolds often on the sets, and while he has to appreciate about my work, he personally comes to me and sweetly puts it up. One more thing, he often addresses me as Dr Sahiba,” says the amused actress.
Monika Ravan has about 2.5 lakh followers on Instagram. “I used to have the ‘Susheel and Sunder girl’ image on Insta, but lately I have changed my look with modern dresses and skirts with tops. This look is highly appreciated by my fans and this has given me more confidence to come out with bold looks.”
She is more excited about her recently released music video Merama, “It is a romantic song with cute montages, emotional feeling and romance.” On asking what is her idea of romance, she blushed, “I personally feel that it means cute surprises, cute dates and each one of us needn’t speak out what he or she desires, it has to be understood.”
What would the fans want to know more about Monika Ravan? “I am a foodie and eat well, a good dancer and a grateful soul. Ghar ka bana huwa sab chalta hai, like Dal, Chawal and Roti Subji.”
When would we see Monika in a Bollywood film, she humbly stated, “I would honestly state that I haven’t received any offers to work as a lead actress in a Bollywood film. Of course I am open to working in a Hindi feature film. That is the dream of every aspiring actress!”
“Whenever I listened to others, I have failed, and when I listen to myself I have succeeded,” Monika ends.
