Director Harish Sharma’s documentary ADI KAILASH is officially nominated in the competition category of the 18th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2026 that will be held at a grand ceremony at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from 13 to 15 February 2026.
In a recognition of Harish Sharma’s cinematic excellence and spiritual storytelling, the documentary Adi Kailash is now set to shine on the global stage.
Dedicated to exploring India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, journalist turned filmmaker Harish Sharma turns into a passionate storyteller with his documentary Adi Kailash – A forgotten path to the Divine.
Speaking exclusively to Paresh B Mehta, Editor of Filmytown.com, Harish Sharma said, “The documentary portrays the awe-inspiring spiritual journey to the sacred Adi Kailash peak in Uttarakhand’s Himalayas, revered as the divine abode of Lord Shiva. Through his cinematic vision, Sharma captures the mystical beauty of the Himalayas and the profound essence of Indian traditions. With a background in journalism and years of experience in creative media, he continues to document untold stories that connect humanity with nature, faith, and timeless wisdom.
Directed by Harish Sharma and produced by Sandeep Jha, the film draws inspiration from the award-winning writer and veteran Himalayan trekker Dr. Lalit Pant’s acclaimed book Ajpathon se Himshikharon Tak.

The film features celebrated actor Hemant Pandey from Pithoragarh as the anchor, whose voice adds authenticity to this Himalayan narrative. Through breathtaking cinematography, Adi Kailash reveals the rugged grandeur of snow-clad peaks, crystal-clear rivers, and the deep spiritual bond with the sacred Kailash Mansarovar.
“The film blends ancient history and pilgrims’ arduous journeys with Himalayan region’s serene mystique. The narrative weaves personal testimonies, local traditions and the timeless bond between humanity and nature,” Sharma added.

Founded and directed by Hanu Roj, Jaipur International Film Festival’s historic 2026 edition will be hosted at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam in February 2026. The coming edition of JIFF returns under the theme “The Cinematic Olympics,” known globally as the world’s largest competitive film festival for narrative cinema in collaboration with the Global Cinema Movement and the Delhi Film Convention & Summit 2026..
