Mere Baap Pehle Aap, movie review
Comedy specialist director Priyadarshan has come out with another not so great comedy story about a widowed father and his authoritarian son - Mere Baap Pehle Aap. The director who has produced good comedies like Hera-Pheri and Malamaal Weekly comes up with just an average entertainer. Anyway, good performances and the dialogues add fizz to the story. It is the story of an authoritarian son (Akshaye Khanna) who bosses his long-widowed father (Paresh Rawal) about living away the remaining years of his life like a decent old gentleman. But the father, well under the influence of his lusty old friend (Om Puri), is inspired to relive his youth again and marry his childhood sweetheart (Shobhana). And even as the son falls in love with a girl (Genelia D'Souza) who troubles him perpetually, he is worried more about his father’s marriage than his own. Mere Baap Pehle Aap opens with a dre ....

Summer 2007 movie review
Summer 2007 is a hard-hitting film based on a pertinent issue; it has a touch of humanity and a noble story. It is the story of five medical students who experience a rude awakening of sorts when they visit a village in rural Maharashtra. The film opens with a peasant putting himself on fire - depicting the Vidarbha farmers' mass suicide. Summer 2007 movie review... In such a scenario, the five friends are faced with the tough option – to return to their comfortable lives or to do something for the villagers. But given the rural politics and the influence of those who are opposed to change, the going would certainly not be easy for the five. Sikander Kher comes up with a restrained yet impressive performance as a man undergoing inner transformation. Gul Panag the under rated actor is brilliant, Yuvika is fresh and glamorous. Arjan Bawja and Alekh Sanghal play their parts well. Sa ....

Aamir, movie review
Aamir the film is an impressive debut for Raj Kumar Gupta as a director. Even more so, it is a first film for the music director, the cinematographer, the leading man, the new production unit apart from the director. Gupta stays away from the clichés that a newcomer may be susceptible to. Aamir movie review... Instead of usually expected a la-Hollywood film-noir style, Gupta places this drama-thriller which exposes the Mumbai’s underbelly. Aamir, the film has been 'inspired' by the 2005 Filipino film Cavite and is essentially about a Muslim doctor Aamir Ali who is returning to Mumbai from London. The moment Aamir (Rajeev Khandelwal) lands at Mumbai Airport, he is extensively questioned by the Customs simply because he is Muslim. Our protagonist walks out of the airport and realizes no one is there to receive him. He even calls home but no one answers. More trouble so, whe ....

Sarkar Raj, movie review
Sarkar Raj is sequel of film Sarkar directed by Ram Gopal Verma. The plot has surprising twists and turns. It has tight screenplay, powerful dialogues, excellent cinematography and impressive close ups. Right from the opening sequence in the film Sarkar Raj, Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) is seen holding a cup of tea in front of his face. It is similar to Sarkar in the original as a symbolic gesture that he has now taken over the command from his father Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan). The story is that Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai) is the CEO of a Sheppard Power Plant, an international company brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural Maharashtra before the Nagres, something the state desperately needs in times of power shortage. A similarity with the Enron project in Maharashtra, which has its opposition and troubles. Anyway, it is vague that the CEO of a Multinational company large ....

Woodstock Villa, movie review
In the tradition of film noir that is guaranteed to shock, thrill and surprise. Hastey Hastey, movie review
The director’s attempt to make Hastey Hastey a youthful, musical, romantic comedy with a twist in the tale, has met with lukewarm response. We also have the three Rajpal Yadavs who “tries” to be funny but audience is not amused with this guy who keeps saying "dude" and starts running after every white-skinned girl. The film Hastey Hastey is about Neel (Jimmy Sheirgill), a brilliant student at Columbia University and the pretty Maya Fernandez (Nisha Rawal) the love of his life, are on the verge of starting a new life together in New York. Sunny Malhotra (Rajpal Yadav) is Neel's roommate, teammate and conscience. Ghatothkach, movie review
An animation film on Bheema's son - Ghatothkach. The director informs you right at the beginning that he's taken few liberties with the story in the name of presenting a picture which makes it visually entertaining. One of the most ignored figures in mythology is Ghatothkach. Despite being a half blue-blood, this good-hearted son of the Pandava Prince Bheema and the Rakshasi (Demon) Hidimba never got the recognition or credits, especially, being the son of a powerful father. But when duty beckoned Ghatothkach sacrificed himself willingly at the great battlefield of Mahabharata like a valiant hero. Ghatothkach, lovingly called "Ghattu" is the prince of the forest and is blessed with extra-ordinary powers. He has loads of fun with his magical powers, but also uses them to protect everyone around him. As a five year old, he rescues "Gajju" - a baby elephant which leads to a life ....

Don Muthuswami, movie review
Ashim Samanta, marks his directorial debut with the film Don Muthuswami. The movie is funny at times and Mithun Chakraborty carries the film on his shoulders with his experience and seasoned understanding. Muthuswami (Mithun Chakraborty) comes to pay his last respects to his father who is on the deathbed. The father slaps Muthu and tells him that he has brought shame to the family by being a gangster and that he would die an unhappy man. The Don promises his father that he would give up his crooked ways and turn into a honest man, if that would keep him at peace. So begins the transformation from Don Muthuswami to Sir Muthuswami.
