All set to sing for a Bollywood film: Singer Soma Dutta

Having conquered hearts of her fans with soulful songs online, across varied languages including a regional Assamese song, a devotional Bengali song and a Hindi Bhajan, Soma Dutta, the Architecture graduate with a sweet voice has already been rocking the Southern film industry. Her recently released single is O Pire Theesina that is a sad romantic song Telugu song from an upcoming feature film.

Known for performing Bollywood, peppy numbers and modern day melodies in various stage shows like Nanded, Kurnool, Vizag, Hyderabad, Mumbai etc, Soma also loves classical and singing bhajans. A romantic Hindi song Naa Keh Saku Main has fetched her greater recognition and a large fan base. While she has made a mark in the Telugu music industry, there are several Bollywood songs in the offing. Just for the records, her favourites are Lata Mangeshkar and Shreya Ghosal she revealed while speaking to Paresh B. Mehta, Editor of Filmytown.com

A trained Hindustani classical since the age of 5 years, Soma is an established Corporate executive. “Singing is my passion and my love for music is immense. Singing for Bollywood movies is my dream and it now seems very near to achieving it,” says this crooner who already has 2 singles to her credit and having sung for multiple movies, few of them are yet to be released and currently one of her singles along with Shahid Mallya is due for launch soon. And the is another single – “Tera ishq tha jhootha” while her latest release song is for a Telugu Short Film released in 2025 – Itlu Seethaamahalakshmi (Part 2).

It was just the last year that Soma Dutta had been felicitated with the International Achievers Award in Rajasthan. It has been since 14 years that she is also into live music and till date she has sung numerous songs which include romantic, peppy and jazz.

“I have also sung for feature films like Padmavyuham, Fighter Shiva, Tvaralo Pinky ponky jump and Prajasena. The recent is for the film Shooter which is just about to be released. What I have realized is that singing for feature films is really a learning experience for me. I find it awesome. Every recording has taught me numerous things which are really helpful.

On asking what are her preparations to hit the Bollywood film industry as a singer, she replied, “I am well equipped professionally and in my art which give me confidence to make it big in the Bollywood film industry. I have the power in my voice which requires it in Bollywood film industry.”

What can we expect from her in Mumbai for Hindi films? “I want to stick to my favourite genres – pop, rock, classical or just Bollywood songs. I like all genres and love learning from all of them but my most fav is classical ragas and second is jazz,” ends the singer.
