One of the best films of Salman Khan complemented by superlative performances by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the child artist Harshaali Malhotra.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the story of Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi aka Bajrangi (Salman Khan), who as a child was a laggard in his studies and took ten years to clear his SSC examinations which led to such a joy to his father that he left this world.
Pavan is a brahmin boy and a devout of Lord Hanumanji who has such a faith in his Lord Bajrangbali that in times of distress, Pavan leaves everything on his faith in Bajrangbali. Being an ideal person who never cheats, never had lied in his life and ever willing to help people in their troubles.
Fondly called as Bajrangi by people around him, he reaches Delhi to his father’s friend who would guide him through his life. Bajrangi comes across Rasika (Kareena Kapoor Khan) who eventually is the daughter of his dad’s friend in Delhi.
Meanwhile there is a Pakistani mother-daughter who visit Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya’s Dargah in Delhi, India to pray for her speech being returned. On their way back the girl child – Munni (Harshaali Malhotra) happens to miss her train back to Pakistan when she rescues a lamb, stuck in a pit while her train has stopped for a while.
Stuck in India the innocent Munni spots and follows Bajrangi, gets associated with him under strange circumstances and our Bajrangi assumes she’s a Hindu and must have been separated from her parents in the midst of holy celebrations here. Bajrangi gets a jolt when he discovers that she is a young speech-impaired girl.
He makes up his mind to reunite this poor little innocent girl with her parents where-ever they may be. With his unflinching faith in Bajrangbali, he initiates the journey which ultimately lands him across the border in the neighbouring country Pakistan.
They begin the journey which leads them to come in contact with a funny, yet large hearted Pakistan reporter Chand Nawab (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who is instrumental in bringing the muted girl to her parents in their country.
Bajrangi and Rasika’s romance is portrayed in quite realistic situations, much unlike the other Bollywood romances. Salman Khan is without his antics, without showing off his six-packs, and there is no unnecessary bashing around.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui again, entertains us with his performance, but the surprise packages are Salman’s sensible acting and the girl child Harshaali Malhotra is so endearing.
Here is an adventurous film which has its funny moments which leave you clapping at times, tense moments when the duo cross the border and even emotional situations which leaves the viewer teary eyed. Bajrangi Bhaijaan is made with the heart and soul in its right place.
