Deepika Padukone has come out in support of mental health issues and is working on an initiative that will help people suffering from anxiety, depression and panic attacks.
Deepika has realized that mental health issues are quite common but barely anything is being done to prevent these issues.
In fact, Inspite of having back to back hits and great success, Deepika herself suffered from depression for a brief period early last year.
Despite having a packed schedule, the actress has been working towards the cause for the past three months.
She will be working towards improving the mental health scenario in our country, throughout the year. And for this she has already brought a team on board.
The team consists of doctors and psychiatrists who will work with her and address common problems like anxiety, depression and panic attacks.
Deepika confirms the news and adds, “I am committed to the cause, and we have been working towards this for some time now. I will work on it this whole year.”
As a teenager, she played badminton in national level championships but left her career in the sport to become a fashion model. She soon received offers for film roles and made her acting debut in 2006 as the title character of the Kannada film Aishwarya. Padukone then played a dual role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in her first Bollywood release, the romance Om Shanti Om (2007), which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
