Pervertigo is a bold thriller with no inhibitions, no shame and a film the youth can identify with, and viewers will remember.
It is a twisted coming of age story about Lloyd Gills (Martin Monahan), a lonely Peeping Tom.
Kicked out of his present home for being a peeping Tom, Lloyd finds a new apartment on rent, surprisingly the landlord isn't insistent on checking his background. His new landlord is Redmond Nash (Mark Zeisler) who 'smells' the person and decides his compatibility with the new tenant. This landlord has a hot, beautiful wife Oksana (Jodi Stevens).
When Lloyd is propositioned to murder his landlord’s wife, he runs for the hills. But with a badass debt collector hot on his tail, Lloyd has no choice and agrees to the murderous offer.
Armed with a hammer and a one-way ticket out of town, Lloyd sets about the grisly deed, only to discover that his mark is a Peeping Tom herself. Soon they begin to fall in love and decide to turn the tables on her crazy husband.
But can a messed up pervert like Lloyd make off with the money and the girl?
Pervertigo is a dark, funny, thriller that is classified perfectly by one of cinema’s most stylized genres: film noir. The film is inspired by Classic noirs such as Double Indemnity and Vertigo, visual flair and intricate plotting. Writer / Director Jaron Henrie-McCrea is influenced by Wilder, Hitchcock, Welles and the likes. “Particularly Hitchcock, this movie is all about watching and its consequences. Movies like Rear Window and Strangers on a Train ran through my mind all throughout production” said Jaron Henrie McCrea, the director.
This contemporary story has a classic noir formula – a man who wants to kill his wife, and put it in the world of an absurdist comedy.
Pervertigo is an intricate, roller coaster of ups and downs, twists and turns. This is a movie made for an audience, intended to thrill and surprise. Expected to release in India early next year.
